Really obscure now. Songs that may bring derision.
Found this earlier today after years of trying to remember it.
Originally discovered in the Town and Country, as part of Wendy May's Locomotion set.
It's just as great as I hoped it was.

"The opposite of love, after all, is not hate, but indifference."

Saw these guys at 2am at one of the All Tomorrow's Parties festivals, maybe Battles/Caribou/Les Savy Fav one? Melted the room, amongst the sweatiest I've ever been.

Released this then disappeared

“Perry como” by Sean O'Hagan.
Sean deserved more recognition.

Not hating but I find it mad to see someone say Fleet Foxes, a band I've seen headline festivals, are obscure and posting one of their most famous songs (over 300m streams on Spotify). Life really is so subjective isn't it!

Sorry if the group are not obscure enough. My fault as I just buy stuff I like. I am not a follower of most music and musicians and know little about their popularity. Hell, I don't even know any of the names of the Fleet Foxes band members.

I'll have another stab at musical obscurity with Tom Pacheco who I saw in a bar half a lifetime ago. My kids were young then and they are in their 40's now. There were probably less than two dozen people in that bar and the guy put on a magnificent performance with just a guitar and an amp.

I found Sun drift during the lockdown. There's a laidback catchiness that I really love about his music. Nice melodies and use of words combined with a homemade production quality and no shortage of talent. I ordered a cassette from his bandcamp and totally forgot about it until 6 months later a little envelope arrived from Sheffield. I've still got it on my shelf. Pretty sure I'm the only person who ever listens to him.

Finnish instrumental space rock. Every album is excellent, in my humble opinion:

Who knew that you could mix metal and ambient and it would actually work? This Swiss outfit did and delivered it without using any real guitars. This blew my mind when I first heard it and I still think it's a groundbreaking piece.

Heavy psych band Elder and doom metallers Kadavar made an album together and the album spawned this epic rock song, complete with a powerful and moving video:

"Things had started becoming increasingly desperate at Loftus Road but QPR have been handed a massive lifeline and the place has absolutely erupted. it's carnage. It's bedlam. It's 1-1."

I don't know anything about this guy, and can't remember where I came across it. But I fricking love it. Something about the lo-fi production combined with a really solid low end, and the simple fragility of the vocals. But I'm also totally aware that it's quite shit and cheesy! Sometimes that hits the spot though.

Sat listening to this in my car now, which has a decent subwoofer. Skip it to 2m30s to see what I mean, lovely vocal break followed a really gratifying bass drop.

I do a bit of DJing sometimes, and have been tempted to play it as an end-of-setter, but never had the nerve. Would need to be at a high emotion point, perhaps after 10 hours as the sun comes up 😂

Can't remember the name of the tune, but there is one where the keyboard player justs reels off this absolute amazing jazzy solo.

Melodic black metal may not be for everyone, but this is such a tune:
