If the correct answer was no then I understand JS's reaction to a disrespectful question when he has just started a new job. I don't think anyone disputes that we have made progress.
But I think the real progress has come since we moved to the new training ground.
That's not to say Nourry has just ridden that wave without contributing anything substantial of his own. But would he have come here at all without that setup in place?
So what's the real driver of success here? Talented leadership? The new training ground? Or a combination of the two?
Napoleon liked his generals to be lucky. Maybe Nourry got his foot in the door at just the right time. And maybe some of the things Nourry and his coaches are being credited for were put in place by the previous regime.

Hold on, I’m literally replying to Connel’s post there (which was very critical of him) saying that it doesn’t need to be either/or. There can be good and bad at the same time. It’s the definition of balance, isn’t it?
And I then followed up with a post praising the lack of activity today and the approach this window. Again, is that not balanced?

The squad is clearly much better than since that Warburton gamble season. We have spent more (gross and net) than Ferdinand had to spend in the same number of seasons during his entire time as DOF, so it’s difficult to compare. It’s not apples and apples. We have been able to invest what we have because we had such a tight, small loss year of Ainsworth/Cifuentes, and the Eze add on negotiated by Ferdinand.
The proof of whether that investment has been good, bad, or mixed is where we finish this season (3rd full season, 4th since he’s been at the club), and how much we bring in if/when we sell some of those players he’s invested in. I think there is a good chance we can finish top 10 (which would be good progress) and that we can sell a couple of players for £10m plus before the end of next summer. Do that, and it’s undeniably progress. No doubt. Although the next step of the model is replacing with better at a lower cost so you can replace with more too. But, if we neither sell nor finish top half, it’s bad. Do one, and it’s mixed. I think that’s a pretty fair assessment. But we need to judge at the end of this season just like many were saying last season. I sincerely hope it’s good! I’m tired of watching us finish 15th with a negative GD. I’ve been a ST holder for about 30 of the last 33 seasons! I’d like some excitement.
Separate to the results/direction of travel/player trading piece, I am still allowed to dislike him as a person and his style (just as others are entitled to like him as a person and his style). I’ve heard enough (from people who have spent a fair amount of time with him) and know that he displayed a very distant relationship with the truth when discussing his experience when he joined (and since) to not like him or trust him. Those behaviours may not matter to you, which is fine. But they matter to me. But they don’t mean he will be a failure. Nor do they mean I have to like him if he turns out to be successful. I read your post a few times. Your balanced argument was made in general terms and not related specifically to CN.
Obviously the more time passes gives you more time to accurately evaluate whether CN has done a good job. That’s why I used the phrase ‘as a direction of travel’ ie now, not in the future.
It seems that even if we finish in the top 8 this season you’ll scratch around for things that happened under Ferdinand to, in part, explain our success. I appreciate your honesty about your dislike of CN. Do you think it may have blinded you to the good work that, it seems the vast majority of supporters I’ve seen who have expressed an opinion, believe he has done?

Why would I “scratch around for things” if we finish top 8? I’ve been really clear what is good, bad or mixed in that post. Re-read it. I cannot be any clearer. You’re simply making straw man arguments now. I’m not “blinded”. I cannot be clearer, more honest, nor can I be more balanced, imo. We cannot reach any conclusions yet. We have done the easier part (invest in the squad in a way previous regimes could not). We don’t yet know (although we can hope!) if that will results in a step forward in league position or big income from sales. It needs to for anyone to deem a good job done.
