Towards the end of the 2001 relegation season we lost 3-0 at home to Stockport. Somewhere amongst all the misery Justin Cochrane came on as a sub, got a straight red card 17 minutes later.
Same season, last game away in the Midlands somewhere, Wolves I think. A match overshadowed by Rs fans protesting against proposed merger with Wimbledon. Me & my mate painted a banner "STICK THE MERGER UP YOUR RS. WE DON WANT IT." a few photos of which got in the next day's paper. Anyway a few players made their first & last appearance for us that day, Alvin Bubb was one, can't remember the others.
Then there was that game up in Leeds, Ian Holloway wasn't there, it was just before he was scandalously put onto gardening leave by the crook Paladini. Very bizarre team selection though, back four were all new faces & they played that way too, proper Queens Park Strangers!! There was a goalie who came on loan for just a couple of week & only played for us that 1 time. Can't remember his name though.
Rangers legend Fernando De Ornelas who I remember seeing warming up as a sub & I thought that was the only time he'd been sighted in the ground. But according to Wikipedia, he played 2 games for us. I have no recollection of either of those!!
By the way, his Wikipedia page is really something. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ In a 14 year career, he was on the books of 15 different clubs & averaged 9 appearances a season over his career.
He is now a pastor, presumably spending most of his time thanking God for giving him such a charmed life & all those lucrative signing on fees.
Who was that lad we signed from Arsenal reserves at the same time as Dominic Shimmin? Only played 1 game for us, it was away at Leicester. Actually had a really good game but then got stretchered off with a broken leg & was never heard of again (maybe they shot him like they do with horses?)

Gray was quality - pacy, direct and a good dribbler. Two banging goals.
Fantastic goals, I think the first was the only time I’ve seen posts shaking for seconds afterwards. I don’t think there was a strike, the game was postponed due to cup replays (almost certainly not ours) and then Hillsborough, so squeezed into the last week of the season on a Monday I think, United had another midweek game perhaps, which might have influenced their selection.
I might have seen Warren Barton play for us in a 0-0 at Peterborough, memorable for Clark Carlisle returning to the squad from injury/booze-cruise (though only to warm up), and Callum Willock missing twice from two yards. And Barton being useless.

The black Andy Gray apparently played 11 games for ourselves, but was known for two crackers for ourselves in a midweek 3 - 2 victory over Man Utd.
Only ever stayed anywhere for any length of time at Palace, strange for a player of his abilities.
Wasnt at the Man Utd game, dont think many were, believe was only around 10 000 crowd there that night, but what a performance and then he left from whence he came !!!!
And didnt realise the Gurnam Singh refereeing catastrophe debacle, we played against Spurs, he scored the winner for them, that night too.
That Andy Gray performance against Man U was very memorable. Two absolute pearls that won the game. Excellent midfielder. I remember it kicked very intensely on Uxbridge Road after.

I actually witnessed a conversation between the originator of this thread and QPR player Kalen Brunson outside the Brentford ground before a development fixture one evening earlier this season. There was a small group of us in the dark trying to find an open turnstile. It was borderline surreal and went something like this.
OOTT: (loud and throaty) YOO RRRs!
KB: (looking about 12 years old) I play for QPR.
OOTT: Sorry?
KB: I play for QPR. I’ve played one game for the first team.
OOTT: (genuinely surprised) You play for QPR?
KB: Yes, I came on a sub and nearly scored. In the Carabao Cup at Plymouth
OOTT: You really play for QPR?
KB: Yes.
Pause.
OOTT: Have you ever heard of XTC?
Have to say Kalen Brunson is a really nice lad. Had a brief chat with him. Said he knew Nahki Wells being both from Bermuda.
Aaron Brown - bought him from Bristol City. Always thought he looked good against us, but quelle surprise, he was crocked. Only saw him once.
Tony Simmonds - described by Terry Venables as, 'one for the future.' Not sure what future Terry envisioned, but we're still waiting.
Armel Tchakounte - If you know, you know! Saw him play in the reserves and I can genuinely say three things about him: unquestionably, the worst player I've ever seen in the B&W, whomever scouted him should have been sacked, and I think we've all played with better players than him. I mention Armel because for some reason, I think he made a matchday squad but thank God, he didn't get on.

Notts County away I remember him coming on. Think he'd played quite well for Celtic previously and we were pretty excited about it but... Scottish football.
As a side note, I used to play school football against Carl Leaburn. In fact, I marked him in a couple of games. He was a really good player, even at a young age.
One of my favourites of these is Tony Witter. He was with us from 1991-1994 and only made one appearance in a 4-1 hammering at Villa Park in August 1993 and was never seen again. The game is notable for being Andy Townsends debut and also had some brilliant goals including a wonderful volley from Sir Les that rifled into the top corner of the Holt End.
This one involves a friendly that I wasn’t at or even know who it was against but I’m sure I read somewhere that Trevor Hebberd (MOTM of the match that never happened) played for us in a friendly as a triallist AFTER the game we dare not speak about. Is this true?

That Leaburn game at Reading was memorable because I think it was Richard Langley's comeback from his big knee injury. A lovely player we don't talk enough about.
And the lovely Phil Parkinson went in hard on that knee in the first few minutes of the match!
