Southampton haven't yet denied these allegations!
For anyone who doesn't know Boro caught someone with some very sophisticated cameras and recording equipment spying on one of their training sessions.
Apparently Boro are looking into the possibility that Saints have done this to other teams this season.
Nightmare timing for the EFL. I can't see any way for them to fudge this

I'm shocked the EFL have made the right decision!
Interesting that the first 'spying' they've admitted to was way back in December - Eckert replaced Still as manager in November. Does make you wonder if there's more to this....I mean, if they thought it was necessary to spy on Oxford - why not every club? |
Yes that seems very likely: I assume there must have been some kind of proof for the other two incidents.

I'm really enjoying Harwood-Bellis missing out on a potential promotion bonus, increase in wages etc. All those zany Saints fans taking binoculars and camo along to the games... megafukinglolz.
I was out on Friday with someone who supports and works for Saints and he was convinced they'd get a £5m fine or something. Genuinely couldn't understand the fuss and the main defence seemed to be that Saints hadn't actually won at Boro. |  |

(Was recently talking to someone in Gloucester who works in treatment of psychosis. She said a locally common delusion is of being spied on by GCHQ for obvious reason that they have a massive sodding building on the edge of Cheltenham.

I really wouldn't be surprised if they've been doing this since the new manager came in. I know the 'new manager bounce' and all that, but their form was ridiculous.

I suspect the EFL will want to draw a line under this.
They will probably let Saints know that an appeal is unlikely to get the playoff final decision overturned but that points deduction for next season could get a lot bigger.
If Saints take their punishment without appealing I doubt we will hear any more about other clubs being spied on this season. | | | |
