Southampton haven't yet denied these allegations!
For anyone who doesn't know Boro caught someone with some very sophisticated cameras and recording equipment spying on one of their training sessions.
Apparently Boro are looking into the possibility that Saints have done this to other teams this season.
Nightmare timing for the EFL. I can't see any way for them to fudge this

Just let them play in the final FFS.
Everything is clearly completely bent and this is much less serious than say millions of illegal payments for years to win everything like Chelsea or whatever Man City have been doing. Or the countless ridiculous VAR decisions always favouring the big clubs as you can see with the Celtic and Arsenal games this week.
If none of that matters, then some bloke making a few notes watching a training session with binoculars is miniscule in comparison. |

Can't see the point in a Southampton fine, will the EFL kick Southampton out of the play offs,probably not but they should. Personally would get Boro and Southampton undertake a penalty shoot out at a neutral ground with no fans present and who progresses to meet Hull. [Post edited 15 May 18:47]

But Boro have been excluded from the hearing, so no fees for Nico here unless Boro bring a separate action in the courts.
My gut feeling is that the EFL is more concerned with getting its Playoff Final on than it is with punishing Saints for their cheating.
I hope I'm wrong but I think the EFL will take the path of least resistance, which in this case means not kicking Saints out of the playoffs.
Boro aren't party to the hearing so they can't appeal if Saints aren't kicked out.
Saints can and will appeal if they are kicked out.

There's no way saints will be kicked out, none.
They'll get a big fine and a suspended points deduction of ~6 points the next time they are relegated to the championship or next season if they aren't promoted
I feel for Boro a bit, but nowhere near as much as I'd feel bad for the Hull fans who have bought match tickets, train tickets, accommodation etc if the FA just decided to move the game. | | | |

100% and the EFL could have saved all this by putting in the fixed punishment when they set the rule after Leeeds did it... if done before a league game means deducted 12 points, done before a knock out, you're disqualified from it. Done, but its not how the EFL work. | | | |
