Obviously non QPR, but what they’ve done in the last 10 years is mental. Being a solid Championship team, and now solid Premiership team. I think they could qualify for the Champions League this season.

I think I've been pretty optimistic all summer.
I said we had a very favourable start that we should get ourselves fit and firing for, and so far we have.

When Nourry came in, a lot waa made of setting up and the fact that he had studied the successful teams around and a lot was made of how Brentford had operated.and was a model to base our own.
It is incredible what they have achieved.
Lets hope we continue with our rise up the daisy chain ourselves.
It seems positive. The change around in the youth set up has worked way beyond what I thought it would but its the recruitment that has been achieved thats been the biggest change alongside the last two managers appointed.
Lots had fondness for Ramsey, Furlong and others but lets face it Hamaleinien and Kakay, we werent exactly performing in those fields and its been important to make a clean sweep and fingers crossed. [Post edited 30 Aug 22:49]

Well, we haven't achieved anything yet.
We've finished 18th, 15th, 15th and we haven't had a significant player sale.
We've beaten Portsmouth and Blackburn and drawn with Bolton.
I'm excited, I'm optimistic. But let's under hype and over deliver this time. I remember Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink beating Leeds, Cardiff and Wigan to start a season and going to a fans forum in September where people were asking how he's recruit for a Premier League campaign. Week later we lost 6-0 to Newcastle. | | | |

Absolutely. Though it never feels that way in the moment when you’re losing at home to Burton. Give me one FA Cup in return for a lifetime of division four drudgery. It would be the playoff final x 1000. And then the chance to see us in at least one away match abroad even if it’s a Conference League playoff in Moldova is worth infinite mid-table Premier League seasons.
I don’t care about Brentford any more than Charlton or Palace or Carlisle but I do like watching them in a league there aren’t many teams to say anything good about. Though the PL in general feels a bit more interesting this season with them, Newcastle and others playing more to win than not lose. | | | |

A long time ago in a galaxy far far away I used to watch the odd Brentford game at Griffin Park when Rangers were away. My grandad lived in South Ealing so we would pop along after a pub lunch in The Plough.
Will always remember getting bladdered with Stan Bowles in The Bricklayers Arms after one game. I woke up the next morning thinking it was all a dream until the head starting pounding. I was walking on air for days after. | | | |

They are doing a brilliant job and unlike certain people connected to QPR are not making excuses about having a small ground (as are Bournemouth). Instead they have concentrated on developing a good scouting network, building a quality squad buy buying, developing and then selling players for 8 figure sums whilst having their replacements already in the squads or lined up.
This includes their head coaches. When Warburton left Dean Smith took over, followed by Thomas Frank and now Keith Andrews.
There may be a bitter rivalry between them and QPR (the latter tried to take over in the 60s , whether or not the club was offered to Jim Gregory), but credit where it is due. [Post edited 31 Aug 15:34]

There was no reason for the Hasslebaink season to be that optimistic. No real groundwork had been put in place. That for me is where the difference is this season. We just won a few games back then.
If we can't be expectant of winning more and performing at levels not seen here for many years with this squad, I really worry.
