I doubt Richard III ever said:

"A horse, a horse, my kingdom for a horse!"

But it's the version everyone remembers.

Bloody Shakespeare. What a chancer! :-)

My favourite one about Shakespeare historical quotes is Henry V before Agincourt - "We happy few, we band of brothers...Cry God for Harry, England and St George"

The nearest contemporary source says that what he actually said was "Fellas, let's go."

Actually, he said, "Let's get ready to rumble." Henry V was related to the Ruffers on his mother's side.

Hold up, its an IB!

I was just about to ask: does anyone know when they'll announce the preseason friendlies?

Yes, coincidence. The DCMS didn't have to approve takeovers (it would be the DTI, anyway). And Burnham could not have known at that point that he would become mayor of Greater Manchester eight years later.

Unless you're suggesting that in 2008, the UAE recruited Burnham, then helped the Tories win the 2010 election so he'd have a reason to leave, but kept him in place in parliament till 2016, when they moved him out to Manchester to run for election, so he could be their puppet? It seems a bit convoluted to me.
.

No, you've made it convoluted. I'm pointing out that there could be a relationship between the UAE and Burnham that goes back to 2008, that's all.

Here we go then. Let's see if the self styled 'man of the people' Andy Burnham intervenes.

If you punish this football club that we absolutely do not own and run then we will withdraw our investments into your country for some reason.

Well, ending a sentence with the word "coincidence?" is what conspiracy theorists to. There are relationships between the UAE and lots and lots of people

Just listened to something about Man City playing Liverpool next, where LFC are set up as some justice warriors taking an imaginary high ground.

Now, what Man City have done is reprehensible, but without any doubt they are not the only top PL club cooking like this.

I'm sure this is why a lot of the clubs are going to stay pretty quiet about punishments, as they don't want to be investigated either

Videos going round on socials of trophies being removed. I'm sure they're just having a little clean up.

The fallout from Man City is spreading.

The Law Society will be looking into any misconduct City's lawyers might have engaged in to facilitate their cheating.

And City might have to pay the PL £50m in legal costs.

He's right though! Needs a bit more of this from football people, I think. Weirdly, the only other coach I've heard speak like this about it is Neil Harris who said a very similar thing, though in slightly more measured tones.

I wouldn't throw them out. The best punishment would be to take their five most recent signings - that they have farmed out on loan for development - and make them sell that player to the club they are currently at loan at. For £1.

Ban them from all european football for min 5 years
Ban them from the Fa cup for same period
Same for carabou cup
30 point deduction every season for 5 years

give them 5 years of utter nothing better than sending them through the leagues as that punishes everyone that way ,

On another Man City note, I wondered if anyone concurs with my gut instinct about the club and their fans. When I was younger, through the 90s, I always thought of them as a massive sleeping giant; huge support but pretty ordinary teams. Had an annoying habit of beating us when we far superior and knocking us out of cups with David bloody White or whatever his name was....with gazillions of City fans around Loftus Road. But this doesn't marry with modern day City where their support really doesn't seem the biggest, especially considering their players and all the success. Or has winning everything bored the legacy fans into submission? Or are they quite simply not the same club? Or did I have it wrong in the first place? Just feels strange to me.

There always seemed to be loads of them, but that was just the baggy coats and flares.

My main City memory is a disconsolate City fan in the chippy on South Africa Road dumbfounded by their lack of curry sauce.

I can see them throwing the book at them, stripping their titles, points deduction, relegation, massive fines etc.

Then later Man City mount a legal challenge against the whole FFP rules and eventually win, because they are clearly nonsense and stifle competition. Then they sue the Premier League for massive loss of revenue and essentially bankrupt them.
