After my Walker post got me thinking who has been the greatest Loan R to have played for us? Can not choose Pierce Charles!

Poll: Now it’s slightly clearer cut who do you want as manager ?

Martin Cranie looked a quality young CB before the horrible broken leg. Probably not the greatest ever loan, but oddly remembered fondly and quite strongly for someone who only played a half dozen games or so.

Jimmy Smith looked mustard to me when we had him on loan from them lot. Was surprised he didn't go on to have a good career. Most probably down to a chronic lack of pace though.

Shit but local

Got to be Mark Kennedy for me. One of the most complete performances for me from someone in hoops was his part in the 5-0 midweek demolition of top of the table Middlesbrough.

Was really hoping we'd sign him permanently and was so disappointed when he signed for Wimbledon. If there was one team he wasn't going to suit it was Joe Kinnear's Wimbledon. I suppose the lure of staying in the Premier League was too much plus he cost them £1.75m and we weren't chucking that sort of money around anymore back then after Wright had locked the cheque book away.

Poll: How many more points will we get this season?

Interesting thread - hard to disagree with Kennedy or Walker. If we are allowing those who joined on loan ahead of a perm sign then Akos first joined on loan too

Ruddock was outstanding in his loan spell with us

He was ok.
Gave us what we needed, some experience and a bit of bullying.
But outstanding is a bit much. We were still dreadful.

Bare bones.

I recall Razor being very good. He made a huge difference and to this day he's the only player that hit the ball so hard that I heard it moving in the air.

Mark Kennedy that same season was a cut way above.

I'll always love Routledge and Wells and wish we'd signed both of them but didn't and couldn't, in that order.

On the mention of Idiakez, I think Clive remembers him - and you can tell that from space.

Suffering since 1978.

Jay Simpson did a good job, netting 12 times in 39 appearances.

"Things had started becoming increasingly desperate at Loftus Road but QPR have been handed a massive lifeline and the place has absolutely erupted. it's carnage. It's bedlam. It's 1-1."

Ant Hobbs' column in AKUTR's used to make me absolutely howl.

In the midst of a fuel shortage, we drove over t'pennines t'Oakwell to see the Rangers. No other bugger on the road and we find a petrol station swimming in the stuff and no one buying it, despite the rest of the country pulling their hair out on rumours of a thimble full on sale miles away.

Bearing in mind I was with him, his piece on it a week later, utterly hilarious.

They did give him a trophy at the POTY dinner though, somebody had snuck me in from upstairs because they'd heard my dad was getting SOTY.

Simon Barker was fuming about it, got nothing after 12 years with the club and Ruddock got a little plate.

I did think Ruddock was very, very good in that spell tbf.

Just because all the good ones have already gone, Stephen Kelly was perfectly competent. Not the best, but goood

Stefan Johansen, ignoring the permanent move later, was amazing

Reading at home under Magilton IRC was probably his best, I’ve probably got the wrong manager and season knowing me!

Ruddock was very good. I seem to remember him often behind the goalkeeper with his back to play twerking the ball off the line with his enormous arse.

Never knowingly right.

Mikel Beck has been mentioned briefly but I’d put him close to the top. Took control of games by skill and pure class.

Strong and stable my arse.

Bob ''The Flash'' Malcom, who is still chasing that ball over the top.

Smells like a trout farm in here

I think Ruddock was the main reason we stayed up that season.
At the POTY dinner that year they gave him a special award for his efforts.

A pair of 4XL shorts?

Watching Ruddock and Jones tag-teaming on lanky Kevin Francis of Oxford in a dismal but vital 1-1 draw took me back to the golden days of ITV Wrestling. Tally-Ho Kaye theatrically pleading his innocence in front of the referee, while behind his back Skull Murphy stamps on the head of the Dynamite Kid. Then they change over.

I would say Taarabt was the best loan, because his loan spell was when we realized what he could be, and later would be. For a couple of years there, Taarabt was the greatest thing since sliced bread and the memory of his nutmegs, dribbles, and spectacular goals are still the best things produced in a QPR shirt since that time.

Honorable mention for Routledge,

Obviously, Charles has been a fantastic addition. I wish he wasn't a loan because he is such an amazing player and asset to the team.
