I can’t help but think that player recruitment recently has a lot to do with it. They seem to specialise in entitled, aggressive, petulant players - maybe they think that gives them a competitive advantage in battling on the pitch and influencing refs. It certainly isn’t paying off though. Pep’s players are pretty whingey and aggressive but stay just this side of being punished. It’s a fine line and I think he’s cynical at it but it’s effective undoubtedly.
It also means when things are going against them they need a very respected and strong manager to keep them together and no-one they bring in is up to it.
I’m loving it. Hated the way they’ve hoovered up all of the best young players in the region and put them on loan as money making ventures having no intention of playing them in the actual team. Long may they struggle. |  | | |
