Would have him back in a flash! Assume we wouldn’t get close to be able to offer what other suitors could.

I don't agree with you Nix. When he was here before, he was part of a three, of which Scowen (I'd have him back in a heartbeat) was the 'rat', Freeman the creative one and Luongo the box to box man. He didn't do it particularly effectively, certainly not on a consistent basis and didn't score as often as he should. If you asked him to protect our mid-field alongside someone like Carroll (aka Freeman) without someone like Scowen beside him, he would be bereft. Add in the trips to Australia and no thank you very much. What we need is a Derry type, siting just in front of the back four, screening it, allowing Carroll to make his forward passes and allowing Chair (who often comes too deep for possession) to get much closer to Dykes, making him less isolated. I wonder could Dickie do it and play Barbet and Wahington behind him? For sure Cameron's legs can't last much longer and he's going to pick up a season (career) ending injury if he keeps playing as often as he is

If Cameron and Ball have the passing ability then Oscar Pistorius could do a job.

But Myke, why would we want to move our best and most solid defender out of defense. If we could get another left footed centre back, I would prefer to try Barbet there.

Sheff Wed on 15:32 - Dec 17 with 2339 views | loftus77 | The only sensible way to bring this sorry saga to a conclusion is for the EFL to impose an immediate 30-point deduction (NON-retractable, non-appealable) on the Hillsborough club. And, to make it fair, the 30-point penalty should also be applied immediately to Rotherham United. As they play in South Yorkshire also. And to Wycombe Wanderers also because they.....err.....play in blue - but I'll give Wild Thing a right of appeal.

Barnsley, obviously. Best make their deduction 40 points, to be on the safe side.

I know what you mean FB and I am only thinking about a short term solution over the Christmas period (about 20 games!) until we can get someone in. He is comfortable on the ball and quite imposing physically. I wouldn't trust Barbet there to be honest, not physical enough for me

Just opinions Myke. I still think Luongo was underrated by our fans and got through a lot more work than they realised because he didn't come across as a hard man. He's got the third best tackles per match in the Championship at the moment in a poor side and Scowen hasn't even got that in League One. He's also more mobile than Dickie. He's not Paul Scoles or David Platt admittedly but I'm not sure we'd be able to afford someone that good. I'd personally love to see him back but if not him, I'd be happy to see another similar player, as I think that's one of our biggest weaknesses in the side. I completely agree with you about someone protecting the back four but we need someone mobile as they also have to link defence and attack, which we're lacking at the moment, hence such a big gap between our attacking midfield and our striker as they have to come so deep to get the ball without a link person who can also get back quickly when needed. But it's clearer now we've been playing a while. In the summer we needed so many players in different positions and Amos was able to play that tackling, mobile role, and I can see why they didn't prioritise that. Now it's pretty obvious that's a big hole in our squad and hopefully we can pick someone up at least on loan.
