Can only admire their discipline which has held until now. Wish my Party of choice had it.

How weak of Salmond to demand a fair trial against the interests of the party. No Bukharin, that’s for sure.

Some pretty low shenanigans going on up there, aided by a system put in place by labour when they thought Scotland was theirs!

Not sure if that was sarky or not but fully behind Salmond’s right to a fair trial. I was merely commenting about how they have until now managed to keep their splits and dramas in house, and how the Labour Party not so much.

Kind of sarky, but telling that public criticism of the SNP is against the rules of membership, while Labour elected their most prolific parliamentary rebel, Jeremy Corbyn, as their leader. I think you are with the more honourable crowd, if not the most effective, though others may disagree. I certainly think that individual conscience is more important than clan loyalty, that’s true. Live not by lies!

Couldn’t agree more, but I would suggest that Labour’s internal splits rarely have anything to do with individual conscience.

Most snp support seem to be blaming everyone else but their own party.I suppose that’s what happens when a party becomes too dominant in a country.
The people in Scotland who want independence will still follow them blindly, knowing that they are their only hope.

I have no views overall on Scottish independence, but will the snp become redundant if independence is achieved?

Is it just me or has a grossly disproportionate amount of press coverage been given to this compared to the coverage of actual criminal activity by the government, which has been negligible at best?

My view, as 75/25 in favour of union, is they think they will rule an independent Scotland indefinitely.
The language they used in the referendum about a fairer society and no Trident etc had nothing to do with independence but rather something that would be the ruling governments policies, how can an independent country all of a sudden become a fairer society?
Unchallenged power has corrupted the SNP, its more to do with staying in charge than independence now I think.
Labour and the Lib Dems are as much to blame as they've collapsed and allowed this situation to happen

Not sure about that (your opening line). At the moment independence almost completely defines Scottish politics. Once independence has been gained, other issues will come into play. The SNP will enjoy a honeymoon period for sure, but after that things could change very quickly.

Poll: QPR to finish 7th or Brentford to drop out of the top 6?

Interesting question. I've read that most independence-based parties fall off after their primary goal is achieved as people seek to distance themselves from the past.

I'd go further than to say single issue parties everywhere fall off generally when in power.

You'll know better than me but I gather Sinn Fein's resurgence in ROI is down to embracing issues over housing and poverty instead of being solely concentrating on a United Ireland and anti Unionism.

The SNP is a party that has managed to accommodate Right Wing anti-gay Nationalists like Brian Souter who wants a low tax conservative Neo Liberal Scotland and Left Wing gay Nationalists like Mairie Black who wants a high tax Socialist Scotland.

How could they possible get on when their only shared goal is removed?

A Nationalist government is always a concern. When a political party's foundation is based on blaming another group for apparent misfortunes, they can easily manipulate the stupid.

If they were to get a second referendum and independence was won by a marginal majority, do they honestly think this will be a day of National celebration and the country will simply walk off into the sunshine?

Scotland will be spilt like Brexit. There will be serious problems and the SNP's lies and propaganda will be exposed (Join the EU, double their state pensions etc).

I have asked a couple of my mates who are pro independence, what happens if one region of scotland decides to stay in the union while every other region decides to leave?Would they be forced out of the union against their will?
Or 52% vote to leave and 48% want to stay?
Nobody seems to come up with an answer.
