| Not very popular on Sheffield United forum. on 16:23 - Dec 31 with 5150 views | Northernr | Sheff Utd who spent £450m on a team that's tenth in the Championship? I reckon they've got bigger issues than whether we've got Covid or not. | | | |
| Not very popular on Sheffield United forum. on 16:31 - Dec 31 with 5089 views | MedwayR | Because not playing for 22days and backing up our fixtures is going to work in our favour, only 5 subs last night & we’ve certainly been below par in the last 2 games, I don’t think we can be criticised. | |

| Not very popular on Sheffield United forum. on 16:55 - Dec 31 with 4960 views | nix | The thing is though, the only free week where neither of us are playing midweek already (after this week but that's just after the Christmas fixture list pile up, so I doubt anyone wants a midweek game then) is the week beginning the 9th January. But that week they have a cup game on the Sunday, so I doubt they want three games in six days. Only three teams have played 25 matches and five teams have played fewer than us, so we're hardly a massive outlier. I wonder if it's because they see us as a bit of a rival for a play off spot. | | | |
| Not very popular on Sheffield United forum. on 16:58 - Dec 31 with 4935 views | Northernr | Did I read the other day that there are only 11 vacant midweek slots left in the season? Swansea already have to find space for five matches. This time last year everybody was bitching and moaning about Rotherham getting an unfair advatage, playing when they liked, calling games off so they could get injured players back, and what happened to them? They ended up with a huge number of games in hand on Birmingham and Coventry, including home matches against Birmingham and Coventry, but had to play them in such a completely unworkable diary that the only one of them they managed to win was against our stupid lot. | | | |

Would it have to necessarily be played mid-week? If both ourselves and SU made early exits (cough) from the cup, could our game be re-fixed for a 'blank' Saturday cup day?

No such thing - we're at Millwall on fourth round day so that will have to be rearranged if either of us win next week. Fifth round is already a midweek spot. Were Swansea to win in the third and fourth rounds they'd then have seven extra games to slide in to said slots. I guess if we went out, Sheff Utd went out, and Millwall stayed in, then it could go there. Ha ha, actually can you imagine, we lose to Rotherham, Sheff Utd go out, Millwall go through, a Saturday opens up and they stick our Bramall Lane game there, everybody rejoices at an extra Saturday 3pm as a nice bonus, then Sky move the fcker again.

Cheers. I always thought the first 3 rounds (ie 3, 4 and 5) the weekends were exclusively cup weekends. Must have changed that unknown to me - probably like 20 years ago! | | | | Login to get fewer ads

Never mind, as long as the World Cup goes ahead on schedule...

Just a typical football manager having a whine and a moan to deflect attention away from his own and his team's shortcomings.

I notice (amongst others) but especially Jurgen Klopp giving it the big one about the festive period - so lets talk about that and not that Liverpool have (by their standards) had a poor run just lately and drifted out of contention for the title. Funny that, yet the Media allow him to play the game, and give it air time over the other issues he might have.
| Not very popular on Sheffield United forum. on 16:36 - Jan 2 with 3279 views | ManinBlack | I suspect Sheffield Utd know that Wimbledon made a formal complaint to the EFL about clubs calling off games with them and loss of income etc etc wanting the EFL to get tough. I think that has given the Blades something to lob at us as we called the game off with them. This is what happens when someone plants the seed of doubt into minds that others latch on... | | | |

I know you don't exactly mean that, but 'we' don't call any game off - make our case to the EFL and they allow (or not) the game to be postponed.

That makes for very enjoyable reading! They really are deluded if they think we can get a game called off because we’ve got a few injuries!!

| Not very popular on Sheffield United forum. on 19:21 - Jan 2 with 2775 views | BklynRanger | Unfortunately I have to side with Hegginfrotham and the obviously sane Blades on that forum. The transfer window should be slammed shut immediately for any team that hasn't had a recent 45m parachute payment and/or doesn't play in the South Yorkshire region. And all doctor's notes for Covid must be inspected by the 'Sheff U' medical team who know best. [Post edited 2 Jan 2022 19:22]
