If you honestly believe 33/1 is good odds to finish top six you need to go back to school and retake maths. Assuming we can win our last 6 matches ( 5 wins and a draw will not be good enough) you'd be much better putting on an accumulator which would be about 500/1 given out remaining matches
Even betting all five-folds win combinations would give you better odds than 33/1 [Post edited 6 Apr 10:17]

This is where the genius of the 500/1 for promotion bet comes into play as at 33/1 for top 6 you’re in effect getting 15/1 on a 4 horse race if we do make top 6 (which you wouldn’t get should it happen). I’d put a sov on top 6, a sov on promotion, and keep another spare in case I happened across a busker singing the Guy Mitchell song we all know and love. | | | |

Think it's just punter's anguish from Swiss. I get the same, see someone who put £1 in the office sweepstake and win the £30 pot when a 66/1 shot wins the National and gets really excited. As a veteran punter, you can't resist pointing out they have in fact lost £36 as if they had put their £1 on at the bookies would have got £67 back....
And of course, the anguish that someone who "liked the name" picked the winner whilst your selection that you have analysed for 18 months from Plumpton to Newbury and back again, and shopped about to get the best 0.5% of ante-post value....was pulled up after the second fence. | | | |

i don't think there were any angry tones Bazz.
It just makes sense if you are getting into the top six where we would have to win 6 ganes in a row and two away at the teams currently in second and fourth, then for 33/1 to expand to 500/1 for another couple of wins, the value is in the promotion bet and not as you say to get into the top six.
Personally for me neither is a good bet. i personally would say to get in the top 6, i would want at least 100/1.
Anyhow, its all academic, as neither will happen, am sure, and everyone comes down with a bump, maybe at Preston today. But lets hope not... [Post edited 6 Apr 11:07]

Bristol City available at 1000/1 and the Opta computer says promotion for them's impossible. It gives us 12 chances in 10,000.

That’s 8 separate bets with a rolling pot. I make it - through a very rough calculation - that instead of being 500/1 it would be nearer 2500/1. I could be way out here but it’s certainly going to be more than 500/1. Going deep into hypotheticals (as someone said we’ll probably get dicked at Deepdale today) but let’s say we get to the play-off Final and you’ve thus far accumulated a grand on a £1 bet. Are you going to have the cojones to put it all on to triumph at Wembley again?
