Crossover Car thread 15:29 - Jan 13 with 13505 views | paesanu | Anyone got one? I've just started researching for a new motor. By coincidence, both the Nissan ones - Qashqai and Juke - get the vote from both the wifey and I. Anyone want to praise insult these, and / or suggest others?

Crossover Car thread on 16:45 - Jan 13 with 9138 views | Tonto | I work for a Highways department and the duty car is a Skoda Yeti. Its quite reasonable - the build quality is good -many of the electrics are the same design as VWs and Audis (key, windows, etc). Its the turbo diesel version and still has a bit of oooph to it. In terms of looks though, I love the Mini Paceman, but thats quite an expensive option.. i can never decide whether I really like or really hate the Juke... I waver between the two a bit like marmite.

Crossover Car thread on 16:51 - Jan 13 with 9127 views | LongsufferingR | Just got the new Renault Kadjar on a 3 year lease and would recommend it. Built on the same chassis as the Qashqai but looks a bit smarter and is a little cheaper. Only drawback so far is it's not the quickest acceleration on the motorway, but I've usually got the kids in the car, so that's probably a good thing! It'll be on show in Rotherham on Saturday so not sure what the locals will make of it. | | | | Login to get fewer ads

Did exactly the same in September. Tried a whole range of cars, even gave the Citroen's a look, though I usually avoid like the plague. Citroen catus was actually ok, but seats were spongy and didnt believe the build quality. Thought we were going to end up with a Ford C Max initially, but we hated the interior and werent impressed with the aftersales. Rather liked the Fiat 500 crossover, but it was pretty expensive for what it was. In the end we arrived at a short list of : Skoda Yeti Nissan Qashqai Both offered the right balance of price vs. quality. We used a great car search firm called Palmdale to all the work in finding what we wanted at the price we wanted. Thoroughly recommend them. It was a tough call in the end as they are both great cars, the Skoda Yeti is a pumped up VW golf and drives really well and feels a little more car like. It was comparatively more expensive, but held value better and build quality was excellent. The Qashqai is bigger, a little less sophisticated, but pretty reliable and well built. In the end my wife found it a little less easy to drive (it does feel bigger) and even though we could get more in our budget with the Qashqai, the Skoda did what we wanted better. Only other one I suggest is worth a look is the new Honda HRV which came out after we bought the Skoda. that is quite nice, though a bit procey.

Crossover Car thread on 19:18 - Jan 13 with 8936 views | simmohoopster | Wife has a Qashqai. I have a CRV. Qashqai is a nice little car. Though I am unimpressed at the boot space. It doesn't score well on storage in my book, especially when I compare it to the Crv which seems like a Tardis in comparison. The engine is a bit sluggish, but then t's not meant to be a boy racer. Again the CRV has a much better engine, though it is more expensive. If you can live with those issues the qashqai is a good option.
Crossover Car thread on 21:31 - Jan 13 with 8835 views | paesanu | Some great input, thanks guys. I've owned two cars since 1998, both bought brand new and outright. I've never leased a car before, and have only this month getting to terms with what Personal Contract Hire (PCH) is. And to be honest, I like the idea of just renting a car every couple of years. No kids, one dog, under 7000 miles per year. Mostly city driving with only the occasional motorway journey. Good to read people#s personal experiences rather than magazine reviews!

A good mate of mine has the Kia Sportage and it's got a console like the Starship Enterprise - great layout. I tested a Honda CRV, base model. Great drive but basic. Huge cabin though.

Crossover Car thread on 23:02 - Jan 13 with 8737 views | 100percent | I've had two Qashqais and absolutely loved them. decided to buy myself a new car before christmas and to my disappointment, the new Qashqai is not 2L, they have scaled them down - plus they are generally petrol now. I tried a host of other ones - hyundai's, sportage etc... Actually bought a Ford Kuga in the end. great interior size, nice drive and 2L. very happy with it so far....

Crossover Car thread on 23:37 - Jan 13 with 8703 views | bacardiinbrissie | Sorry mate but i hate both those cars. Very reliable yes but lok and drive horribly. Mrs recently got a VW golf 2.0 TDi and its lovely to drive if you can get over the turbo lag. I have an A4 but thats just an expensive aste. Some of the Hyundais are nice to drive but the build quality lets them down. They are cheaper becase of the materials they use. Its not rocket science. The Yeti is supposed to be a good car and ive yet to meet an unhappy driver. Just the Skoda badge is an issue for some. A mazda 3 or 6 is not a bad car either. drive nice and reliability is brilliant. depends on whether you like the looks. If you've got some spare cash then go get yourself a Mk1 escort . The mexico would be my preferred option over the rs2000. Bit better on petrol But in all seriousness, for town driving. Go test drive a new golf. You'll undertsnad why they are what they are. Good luck.

Could be an idea for a new thread. 'Cars that look like football managers' If Iain Dowie looks like a Skoda Yeti then Sam Allardyce looks like a Nissan Juke!
