Anothe one gone. Stir Crazy was the first film I saw with swearing in it. Can't believe he was 83.

83 was not a bad age but RIP and sad to see another great go. Genius actor and comedian. A gentle giant of a performer.

Never knowingly right.

Remember "See No Evil, Hear No Evil" ? God, Pryor was funny in that…the scene where he gets mistaken for a Swedish Gynecologist and has to give a public speech on geriatric sex is one of the funniest things I've ever seen.

Have to say that I saw Willy Wonks when I was a small kid, and it scared the living crap out of me.
Later on I saw other films of his, the producers, blazing saddles, stir crazy and others as well as some interviews, and he always came across as a gentle man with great humour. His work for Gilda's clubs should also be mentioned.
Funny man.

RIP.

Ahh shite, What crap news to wake up to this morning.

Without sounding too Marge Proops, To me His eyes Told a story of a man somewhere on the spectrum of the Arkham Asylum Joker's Unhinged mania , and the innocent wonder of a child in its bunny eared romper suit seeing their presents on Christmas Morning.

A Creative disturbed mind, plotted at The intersection of X and Y. Where X = Drinking your own Urine from a Coffee Mug and Y = Saving a box of drowning abandoned Puppies from a stream.

A little known cracker from Stevie wonder to remember Gene By..

RIP old thing.

Great talent, but not all his stuff cut it with me. Loved Blazing saddles though. A rare piece of American satirical, slapstick comedy. RIP.

There aint half been some clever bastards.

So many of his movies were absolute classics. The Mel Brooks ones were simply genius: The Producers, Blazing Saddles and Young Frankenstein were the background to my childhood.

Love Stir Crazy, that and Smokey and the Bandit were the first videos we had on our new at the time VHS
Wilder and Pryor were a great combo , wilder defo had the characteristics he could make you laugh, cry and be wary of him in just one scene
a great loss RIP

With you on this, Dorse. I like a lot of the Richard Pryor collaboration stuff but I think Producers (Wilder/Mostel), Young Frankenstein and Blazing Saddles were sublime. It is a great credit to him that these three were also Mel Brooks' three best films.
