Today is the 70th anniversary of my first visit to Loftus Road
We beat Northampton 2-0
Top of Div 3 south, unbeaten.
Our first ever promotion season.
Had a lot of joy, heartache and wonderful memories
Long may they continue.

Congratulations Ron, completed my fiftieth a few years ago and when reflecting on that, was somewhat awed at the ups and downs I had seen.

Strange how, so many things weave in and out of your life yet Rangers somehow remain a constant. Sometimes all consuming, sometimes less so, but always there.

I think someone wrote a song about the joy and the pain.

Blimey, that's a long span of support. My memory is less clear but I think it was V Shrewsbury in 1956 or 1957.

That's amazing! Congratulations. Taking 1882 as QPR's founding year, which we all know is a bit of a fib, that makes the club 135 years old, so 70 years is just over half our history (close to 52%!). Can you remember any things supporters used to call our or sing in those days? I imagine officials have always had it hard...

Well Ron, I hope I'm able to match your accomplishment...only trouble is I have no idea of the year, let alone the division, score or opponents, in fact I seem to struggle to recall much about the football in general, yet the bag of chips at the South Africa Rd Fish Bar is vividly impregnated in my tiny mind.

I wonder where QPR will be in another 70 years?
Probably still at Loftus rd.. pint and a pie costing 255 quid
Or Renminbi...

The fish bar is no longer there, it's now a place selling chicken. I don't eat hefore the game, maybe someone on here has tried it.

Thanks for the thread Ron.

70 years of following Rangers. And survived to tell the tale!

I'm another that reached his 50th in August, another 2-0 win at home to Norwich with goals (I think) from Ian Morgan & Mike Keen. Also another promotion season!

Congratulations to all you silver supporters. I feel like Ronnie Wood in the Rolling Stones, late to the party, the new boy!

I am on 47 at the moment!

Strange how things weave in and out of your life, yet Rangers remain a constant. For years I have been telling anyone who would listen. ( During a lifetime you could' have different friends, jobs, homes, women etc, but you'll only ever have 1 football team). URRRRS.
First game 1963, Southend away 3 -1 win . Mark Lazarus 2 goals.

I think another 30 years of watching QPR will see me being carted off to the funny farm.

Not as long as you Ron, this is my 59th season. 1958-59
My dad took me when I was 5 years old but I don't count from then as I had no interest in football and spent the whole game playing and running up and down the grass slopes of what is now the South Africa Road stand.

Grass Slopes.????????????????
I remember it when it was Cinders from Gas Light and Coke Co Ladbroke Grove now Sainsburies.
And when you got home you had to wash your Plates.
Ahh those were the days.

If at first you dont succeed, pack up and f**k off home.

From memory you passed through the turnstiles on South Africa Road and there were 4 or 5 concrete staircases that took you up to the terraces and the grass slopes were in between the staircases.
