Slightly earlier for me...Crystal Palace in I think 1957. I think it was the first home game of that season. I know there are people on here whose first game was before that though.
Which Poster Has Seen the Earliest Game? on 18:45 - Apr 28 with 1478 views | BucksRanger | Hi Colin, thought I'd find the exact date for you but hit immediate problems - nothing in 1957. 1956-57 season QPR played Palace twice over Christmas. 25 Dec 1956 Crystal Palace v Queens Park Rangers L 2-1 Division Three (South) 26 Dec 1956 Queens Park Rangers v Crystal Palace W 4-2 Division Three (South) 1957-58 they played Palace twice over Easter towards end of season. 16 Apr 1958 Crystal Palace v Queens Park Rangers W 2-3 Division Three (South) 19 Apr 1958 Queens Park Rangers v Crystal Palace W 4-2 Division Three (South) 1958-59 they didn't play Palace at all. Home game against Palace was third one in 1955. Could it be that one? 05 Sep 1955 Queens Park Rangers v Crystal Palace L 0-3 Division Three (South) [Post edited 28 Apr 2020 18:50]

Yup, I've checked it. As stated in the other earliest match thread it was an easy 3-0 early season home game, but not Palace, it was Millwall.

If only we'd had Google Timeline in 1957 then everyone would know exactly what game they were at.

There was a Boxing Day home game in 1979 v Orient that would’ve kicked off at 11 o clock but was postponed at the last minute. Probably the one you’re thinking of. I remember walking down the Uxbridge Road toward the ground and an older QPR supporter I vaguely knew walking towards me obviously still festively trashed blurted out a drunken piss off. Merry fcuking Xmas to you and all I thought. Then after a few strides more I realised he’d said It’s off.

They bred them tough back then. 1957-58 season started with 10 games in the first 30 days. 24 Aug 1957 Queens Park Rangers v Brentford W 1-0 Division Three (South) 26 Aug 1957 Queens Park Rangers v Colchester United W 1-0 Division Three (South) 31 Aug 1957 Southend United v Queens Park Rangers L 6-0 Division Three (South) 02 Sep 1957 Colchester United v Queens Park Rangers L 2-1 Division Three (South) 07 Sep 1957 Queens Park Rangers v Brighton and Hove Albion L 0-1 Division Three (South) 11 Sep 1957 Swindon Town v Queens Park Rangers D 1-1 Division Three (South) 14 Sep 1957 Southampton v Queens Park Rangers L 5-0 Division Three (South) 16 Sep 1957 Queens Park Rangers v Swindon Town W 2-1 Division Three (South) 21 Sep 1957 Queens Park Rangers v Newport County D 1-1 Division Three (South) 23 Sep 1957 Queens Park Rangers v Millwall W 3-0 Division Three (South

My memory''s buggered. Looking at the fixtures, I think the game when I was a bit the worse for wear on the tube must have been Orient away 1971. Not a Boxing Day but close - December 27th. A 2-0 defeat.

Similar thread a few years back. I reckon Ron Gould wins if he posts, but I also think Mr Hendrix goes earlier than what’s posted so far. Stan’s home debut in September 72 for me

It must have been a Baseball Ground thing. Many, many years ago one of the tabloids had a piece concerning four Toon Army who’d got a fixture mixed up and had driven down to Derby when the game was actually at St James’ Park. Big picture of four glum middle aged men decked out like Christmas Trees. [Post edited 29 Apr 2020 0:40]

I remember that awful game, rumour was going round about the team, Rodney et al, being seen enjoying a busy Christmas drinks session the previous evening. They certainly played like that.
