Forest without a shot on target entering the 93rd minute.
Huddersfield clearly a very poor outfit, and have managed to butcher some great chances to make it 2 or 3.
Forest have now lost to us, who lost next up, Cardiff, who lost their 1st game, and Huddersfield, who lost games 1 and 2. Whatever way you cut it, that is appalling form!

Interestingly I was watching the BBC updates and with about half an hour to go there was circa '9000 viewing this page' during the time added on there were just over 20,000 viewing the page.

First they buy players (last time they were promoted), then they stop (second time they're promoted). Now they suddenly start buying again, even though there's only a week(?) left in the transfer window.
They're like a learner driver who as soon as they get behind the wheel put the foot down on the accelerator until they're doing a ton.
Then they see a police car (relegation) and suddenly slam on the brakes.
Then when the cars behind all start tailgating him and blasting their horn, all of a sudden they're back down hard on the accelerator agan.
Which is all very fine, except that the Khans are no "learner drivers" - they've been in charge of that club for years now.

Almeria have links to Mendes as Forest do and are currently coached by Jose Gomes the former Reading guy before Bowen. They've signed a few other kids from England, and Appiah was very highly rated at the time. Saudi semi-state backing although they made a big sale to Benfica this summer.
Iffy looking for sure but probably above board as far as anything concrete and provable goes.
This is the thing though, for Forest and anyone else trying it spending the money is the easy (and easily policeable) bit - having to shift the deadwood after is what really kills you in the end. Almeria are my Spanish team, as we have a property in the province. Stadium was built for the 2005 Mediterranean Games and has a running track round it. Only holds around 20 on a bowl of a single tier but in recent seasons have had temporary stands at each end. Seen them a couple of times but over a decade ago now when they were in La Liga for a couple of seasons against Villareal and Real Madrid. Played both teams off the park and had Negraro in the side at the time and was managed by Emery who has had a few decent managerial postings since. Bruno who went into play for Brighton was also in that side.
If they have suddenly become monied then that is news to me. | |
