| Palace allegedly in for BOS on 09:59 - Sep 9 by Antti_Heinola | I say this time and time again - you cannot get angry about a player refusing to sign a contract. In the past, can't remember who, but someone (wrongly) compared being a footballer to slavery. That's ridiculous of course, but he is a human being and he has a right to decide what he wants to do with his life and career. If BOS was 37 and had a year to run and was broken down and not in the side and on big wages, we'd all be demanding he leave and criticising him for not taking a pay cut to get regular first team football elsewhere. We. Cannot. Have. It. Both. Ways. Sorry, but if he wants to wait and see if an offer comes in from Palace or similar, there is nothing wrong with that. If they don't, and he re-signs, then that's fine too. If they don't and he decides he wants to take his chances next summer, then, sorry, I know it's annoying, but that is also fine. We can tak about loyalty and 'paying back the club' and all this guff, but the reality is he was not treated well before Warbs came in terms of game time, and we would be trying to offload him quickly and persuading him to take less money elsewhere if he wasn't any good. I'm not saying players aren't sometimes the bad guys - of course they are. But sometimes I think fans need to be a bit more nuanced about this stuff. Even Dave B, fair and balanced personified, is saying 'if he won't sign, sell him' - well yeah, a bid is needed for a sale. The club accepted a bid, he decided not to go. As is his right. It's just not that simple. |
wasn't suggesting it was simple just think if he won't sign we should be looking to sell him this window which I think is what the club have done. I still think Bright needs another year in this division and should sign a new deal, he'll still get his move next summer but will have a better chance of playing than he does now, I think if he goes now to a Premier League club he'll be sat on the bench for most of the season
| Palace allegedly in for BOS on 10:18 - Sep 9 with 3154 views | Dorse | Can't really understand why he didn't go for the Bruges offer. On the face of it, bearing in mind that he wanted a move, I thought it represented a real step up. Not criticising him as such, just think he might have missed an opportunity here. I'm wondering whether someone was promising him something better was imminent. [Post edited 9 Sep 2020 10:21]

| Palace allegedly in for BOS on 10:37 - Sep 9 with 3063 views | ted_hendrix | This cant be a good situation for either the player/club/Manager 3-4 days before the season starts. I'm not quite sure how the Manager keeps his cool under these situations, how the hell can he bring in players when he doesn't know if one of his own contracted players will even be here this coming Saturday. Were not exactly bursting with talent at the moment and our squad 'weaknesses' are well documented and so far haven't been addressed yet. It shouldn't be this way but that's football I guess a strange form of 'headhunting' FWIW I wan't BOS gone and out of the dressing room ASAP and lets move on, being going on too long now. | |

Yes agree with others, tell him if he doesn't sign he doesn't play. His options are: a) Sign a new deal. b) Get another club who will pay the fee. c) Go on loan, if he wants to play this season and earn any bonuses that he may lose (by not playing). He may of course decide to do none of those and just sit out this season, a risk, I believe, we have to take.
| Palace allegedly in for BOS on 11:30 - Sep 9 with 2924 views | NorthantsHoop | Although BOS has over last year or so developed into an exciting player to watch, it is time to make money on him and let him go. He appears on the face of it not to want to sign a new contract, so if we get anywhere near the Bruges offer, then sell. With BOS get in a decent sell on clause around 20% so to future proof any future sale. | | | |
| Palace allegedly in for BOS on 12:32 - Sep 9 with 2749 views | Gloucs_R | I noticed that his agent has probably mentioned Rangers and Celtic being in talks with him for a pre-contract. Clearly either to reduce the fee we want for him or to give him a greater signing on fee at his next club. | |

I didn't think they were allowed to enter into talks with another club until there is 6 months left on their existing contract. I'm probably wrong Anyway if he goes to Rangers or Celtic I think that shows a lack of ambition I don't think that is much of a step up.
| Palace allegedly in for BOS on 13:24 - Sep 9 with 2565 views | swisscottage | All told its all pretty simple. One of in order of preference !) BOS signs a new contract 2) An acceptable bid comes in and BOS agrees to go 3) He agrees to go out on loan for the season to another championship club who will pay his current wages and pay a decent loan fee 4) He sits in the stiffs for the season. We get nothing for him. He doesn't develop, he doesn't put himself in the shop window, and he has a much reduced chance of getting the sort of deal that he's looking for. At no point should he play for us past the deadline window if he doesn't sign a new contract. With the Eze transfer the club can afford to play hardball with him and need to as it sends a message to the other players not to pfaff around chasing a ghost of two birds in the bush rather than the one he has in his hand. He'd be much better off signing a new contract and having a full season tearing up the championship .. everythign else will just follow, just like it did for Eze. | | | |

If he doesnt go and doesnt sign to take his chances next summer that IS fine,...as long as his playing commitment remains consistent until the day he is not taking our salary . Given that an injury can occur at any time and that he would no doubt be sounded out by prospective clubs whilst still playing and being paid by us . I think that is both difficult and unlikely ......... He, as well as us cannot have it both ways. [Post edited 9 Sep 2020 17:54]

Have to say that's clickbait from the normally reliable WLS. No rationale or justification for the heading whatsoever. While Warburton has said that that the club wouldn't play lads who refused to sign contracts he didn't say the policy would kick in on Opening Day. We knew it was one of the possible outcomes, but this article doesn't prove that it's the probable one.

IIRC that was more due to Blackpool’s neglect rather than anything he did, but there is precedence with him and soured relationships. [Post edited 9 Sep 2020 19:54]

| Palace allegedly in for BOS on 09:13 - Sep 10 with 1400 views | bosh67 | I like BOS but he is being manipulated by his agent. It's making him look bad and he's really still just a kid at 22. He is also a confidence player so none of this will be doing him much good. There are 2 courses of action. 1. Get MW to put an arm around him and say 'just go out and play your game here and get on with being a better player while you're here.' 2. Say to his agent, sort this out and he won't play here until you do which will harm his progress. Make that very public. Perhaps he will switch agents? | |

Scottish Sun going quite big on this for him going to Celtic. Lennon likes his wingers so think he would get a fair crack of the whip with game time and they've Europa League, which I think is a good level for Celtic to compete at and could look good for future buyers if performs well there. Celtic won't necessarily hold him back either, sign 4yr deal play this season and next then move for double purchase price is often their method. Southampton being the main selling team!

He's not just a kid at 22 Years old and we're not a Kindergarten, BOS needs to do what he's contracted to do whilst he's under contract to us.

Penrice involved and as someone above said, the threat of pre contract being used to drive down purchase price. Need someone willing to bid against Celtic but as he turned down Bruges he maybe will just sit his contract out?

| And Bowles is onside, Swinburne has come rushing out of his goal , what can Bowles do here , onto the left foot no, on to the right foot
That’s there that’s two, and that’s Bowles

Warbuton and Hoos aren't going to go for that, he'll be booed by the fans (if any weere allowed in), and as someone else said he's a confidence player and that is an all-round sh*tty situation for everyone.
