The Early Edition 'Footballers, Sir. Thousands of Them...' Match Thread 14:09 - Apr 4 with 23665 viewsDorse

Currently, the UN recognises 195 countries, with a world population of 7.8 billion, representing thousands of different cultures, traditions and languages. Our differences are many, however, there is one thing that unites the entire human race: the fact that Nottingham Forest's squad contains at least one representative of each of the world's nations. Like some latter day Noah's ark, Forest has chosen to gather two of every culture, preserving the essence of humanity in case of cataclysm.

Can QPR's rag tag collection of waifs, strays and Dom Ball make any impact on this cast of thousands?

Definitely. 2-0 Rangers.

'What do we want? We don't know! When do we want it? Now!'

Dykes goal.

Would love to see Albert have more time on the pitch with Charlie. Often Adomah comes on after or just before Charlie is subbed off.

Well beaten. They sat back and picked us off, and we were sloppy. Passing from Barbet and Dickie, normally so good, was poor today. We missed Field in the middle. Pleased for Lyndon and his goal. First goal Barbet's mistake. Second was Dykes getting robbed initially, but not the best ball in to him, cracking finish. The third happens on days like this. Oh well, no matter.

It used to be the same with Willock and Austin. Very few minutes on the pitch together at first.

Perfectly summed up, bad day at the office, we move on.

If we'd been losing 1-0 we would have drawn that 1-1!

3 more things.

1. Play Adomah. He's better than just being a sub.
2. I forgot to say that Mark will say... You concede a goal like that before half time and it changes your whole team talk. We were comfortable and that took the wind out of us.
3. I like this Dykes guy. He's prolific.

Never knowingly right.

The joy of having a manager that as certainly out thought ours on this day

Here we go, what has the manager, or any manager, got to do with Barbet's brain fade or 9 of the 11 players, at least, giving the ball away for fun?!

The Early Edition 'Footballers, Sir. Thousands of Them...' Match Thread on 16:58 - Apr 5 with 1251 viewsGreenbay

FT REPORT
This result shows what a thin squad we have.
And that includes our four loan players - Charlie, Johansen, Field and de Wijs.
Injuries to de Wijs and presumably Cameron meant we had to shuffle a player into an abnormal centre-back position.
And that was Field, so good in the middle, having to play at cb.
And he did ok but we lost out in midfield
Kakay could have played on the right of the back 3 instead but Kane - who should have been the wing-back - seems 'out in the cold' presumably to do with 'that' interview a few weeks back.
So an injury or two and an internal possible problem puts us in the shade.
And then the Barbet error just before HT cost us dearly.
So we all got carried away - 32 points from the previous 16 games - but still fantastic.
But now it's back to reality. A mid-table position - we're still 12th - is still very good considering there's been a massive churn - two teams dissolved in two years and we're now onto our third.
Let's hope we can hang on to some of our four loanees - Field and de Wijs look almost certain to stay.
And now we have Sheffield Wednesday at home on Saturday and then Rotherham away next Tuesday. Six points from those matches means we go past the 58 of last year and then still with 5 games left.
That's got to be good - surely.

I think Kakay has been very poor, Paul. And Field has looked what he is - a player out of position.

Well it was a low bar Brian, but thought those two made the least mistakes!

Not a good day at the office but I was willing Uncle to cross it to Dykes in the last minute and despite the loss, that will give both of them a little more confidence going into the next game.

Basically their manager set them up to beat us 3-1 with ease. I never said that Warbs was a poor manager but even Napoleon was out thought in the end
Warbs is a decent manager and Hughton is a good manager there lies the difference

Shambles all over the pitch today, florist look up for it from the off , we look like a pub team !
Oh well , that’ll learn us .

Not quite as bad as that, until the goal it was pretty even, albeit thet posed slightly more threat than us, but hardly dominant.

He's often our best player in those 10 minute spells he gets.
It can only be because we're playing 352 but, as you said, today was a classic for bringing him on and switching to 4 at the back.
Just a frustrating day today.
Hope Albert gets some meaningful game time in the last few games and we can see a place for him, he definitely looks like he would add quality.
On the other hand we might see why he's not getting picked and that would be worthwhile too since results are not so important at this moment?

Florist obviously have good players. Now they have a good manager. Think they will be a force in this Division next season.

Hmmmm - players and manager not had long enough to finish higher than they are?

Strange how they can be so good one day and so poor the next. No, hang on, this is QPR. This is what we have done through the decades I have supported them.

One of those games where Mark will say... they're bitterly disappointed in that changing room. There were a lot of angry voices and words in there. We didn't press. We didn't get our rewards. We looked lethargic and that's not the QPR team I know. We'll analyse and move on. They'll be keen to respond after that. Etc.

Fans will go mad. We're rubbish, sack everyone and then we'll win the next one and we'll be amazing and why did we drop points and not go up as champions. I've been here so many times.

He got the better of Warburton today. But on the balance of the season as a whole I'd say Warburton is more than holding his own vs Hughton

Polar opposite to Friday.

Don't think anyone had a good game and was one of those days.

Positive was at Dykes got another goal which will help his confidence

But as Clive pointed out in his preview, its not just us.

"The worst side we have played this season" have just won 3-1!

Hughton is not a particularly good manager and no better than MW. I know Brighton and Forest fans who both say he is clueless going forward.

Agree to disagree mate.
