It's a fun idea for a thread but it's just about bands or music we don't like, isn't it?
The world and its dog seem to rate ABBA. I simply cannot listen to them and never have. Yet, one or two bands mentioned already such as the Beach Boys are also universally rated that I love.

There's tons of great new music out there regardless of what you're into. We're also lucky to have greater ever access to it all too through online radio stations, the web and bandcamp etc etc. Can honestly say some of my favourite albums ever have been released in the last decade and I'm 51. |  | | |

Thar's a standard response from people who are getting old.
Mind you, I felt ancient after watching some of the Brits last night.
There's plenty of decent music from last 20 years. See the various new music threads we've had. But the pop, RnB and rap stuff from the Brits was a hard watch.
I agree with many in choosing Oasis and Queen, but U2 still doing god stuff even though nothing as good as Joshua Tree. |  |

Many years ago I was at a gig and over the PA they played an album that Tom Jones had made where he was duetting with other people. Some kind of attempt to make him more appealing to a younger crowd by getting him to make a record with whatsername out of The Cardigans and whatsisname out of Stereophonics.
Anyway I remember there was a song where it was Tom Jones & Heather out of M People.

Ha.. you're right. I actually like some of his tunes. But if Prince, U2 and Oasis getting slated then you can't really put Weller above them, can you..?
I don't really get the hate for U2. Bono was a great front man, ok the Edge is a mediocre guitarist with loads of echo and reverb on his pedal but they made some cracking tunes. | |
