| Millwall Dykes bid supposedly rejected on 09:30 - Jan 20 by Northernr | Milwall spent reasonably big in the summer, £1.6m for the Dutch lad. Be very surprised if they had £3m to spend in January too. |
still had enough money to spend 2.5 on nesbit

| Millwall Dykes bid supposedly rejected on 18:39 - Jan 20 by QPR_Jim | Not quite, it is my local team though so a couple of my mates are ST holders so I do keep an eye on them and attend the odd game when one of them can't go. I was looking into FFP in league 1 and league 2, apparently they can spend whatever they want so long as the chairman puts it as a donation rather than a loan. Sounds sensible and means Gillingham can spend as much as their new owner wants. |
That is EXACTLY what the rule should be. Is it true that when in L1 you can spend what your owners give you, but have to cut it when you get promoted? Seems nuts if true and typically EFL.

Both Wolves and Forest shipping out in January strikers they paid 20m plus for in the summer I believe as flops? Tricky business this football

| Millwall Dykes bid supposedly rejected on 10:09 - Jan 20 by qprd | Very skeptical of how much of that £3m is guaranteed, but i would be very very inclined to sell him if we get any decent money for him we have an FFP gap to fill, and this will partially help fill it... we're not going up or down and we have lowe, so we are basically well situated to at least stay up... keeping dykes wont have a material impact on our final position anyone whose read the commentary on last weeks match and the impact lowe had will immediately see how much dykes cripples our attack. he is the single reason our attack is so flaccid, and it has nothing to do with his mediocre to below average goal scoring record -he cant run behind a defense, which exacerbates our sideways/no tempo passing issue... when we play lowe, we will see how his runnign behind and into channels creates space for willock and chair to operate, thereby creating some tempo and forward thrust into our play -he cant run at defenders with the ball.. not essential for a striker and not a skill many have in this division, but again limits us going forward and shrinks the pitch for us.... see what a difference the luton striker made by being able to run at our backline -his skill set is aerial duels, but in basically 1 in 2 matches, the center back will have him in his pocket.... he vacillates b/w these performances, so we get the predictable "best game for rangers" comment after a random match where he wins a few headers. but totally invisible in the other half -hes not a technical player so cant link up with the likes of chair willock and roberts in the final third... and finally, his goal scoring record is totally average... 1 in 4 (of which many are pens) and blows hot and cold, so we have to regularly endure 7 or 8 matches without a goal we are very quick to sack managers and pay all the associated costs... so why not get rid of dykes, who Im sketpcial will improve much at this stage.... take the money and reinvest next season |
You have a lot of excellent points there despite others saying they have seen him do the stuff that you say he doesn't do....dribbling - remember that(!!), aerial duals against big strong CB's(!!), technical(!!), scoring(when was the last goal he scored!!) etc, he can do those things but he does not do them as often as he should do during a match. He is just not good enough for a Championship side that expects to be pushing for top 6. However, the £750,000 down payment that I understand that Millwall have offered is not enough and we should hold out for more. [Post edited 26 Jan 2023 8:03]

Those figures look about right to me. We'll see how much was spent on wages when the accounts are filed soon.

If Dozzel's on 13k a week I despair. His agent should of been in the New Years honours list. | | | | Login to get fewer ads

I think it's true, when I looked into it, I came across the below site explaining it. It's called Salary Cost Management Plan rather than Financial Fair Play. https://www.financialfairplay. "However the Football League use a is broader definition of Turnover. Crucially, the FL Turnover figure includes donations from the owners to the club and injections of equity. Loans from club owners are understandably not included in the Turnover figure as these would result in growing club debts. In League 1 and League 2, a wealthy owner can therefore fund the club spending in a way that is not permitted in other divisions. Manchester City and Leicester for example seem set for punishment for their excessive losses (from UEFA and the Championship respectively) despite the fact that the owners have injected hard cash into the club to finance the spending." I agree, if it's a donation it shouldn't matter that the owners have gifted it to the club.

Interesting, whether it is fact or fiction is another matter......what I do think is that most of these players will be on some sort of bonus scheme which will add up if the player is playing well and the Team is 'running'.......

To me it gives a sense of the knots a club can tie themselves up in trying to get and keep the right players - plus some of that difference in opinion between those recruiting and those picking the team. Les etc obviously see a lot of future potential in Dozzell, but his wages on that list don't match his current contribution, whereas Field looks like a bargain, but as said may have incentives we don't know about. It does look like a pretty sensible wage structure if there's any truth in it - too sensible for plenty of the players we've been after I'm sure. Reading's just looks daft (and possibly inaccurate - lots of 2,600s further down which has to be the most basic info minus incentives.) Not a bad living either way but it's a different world of course.

How on earth would they get this information? Surely it's just the product of someone's imagination and an algorithm. No-one should be using anything in that as evidence to support whatever argument they're trying to make.

Usually the salary data they get comes from something like the Football Manager computer game. The person who provides the salary data to Football Manager invents it based on his best guesses. So this will be one football fans guess at what players might earn
