Manning leaving Swansea at end of the season 12:14 - Feb 20 with 7747 viewsbosh67

He's turned down a new contract there, in very much the same stye he did here. He's a very good player but you think in this economy players would want to stay put and ply their trade.

Never knowingly right.

Good player who we allowed to walk away for peanuts along with BOS. Terrible business.

Good is debateable and HE walked away, as he is now!

Could argue that he knew his worth as did BOS so knew he could get a much better deal for himself if he let his contract run down. I doubt either Manning or BOS regret their decision to leave QPR.

QPR missed the boat on tying them both down on longer deals when Manning broke into the first team under Holloway and likewise BOS. You snooze you lose.

Unless I missed something no one ever confirmed what went on here with him, and it's the same at Swansea.

Plenty to get angry about, we don't need to imagine more.

Well it's another one of those you will never know the answer, I agree we should of got them to sign another deal BUT whether they would have signed or not is totally unknown, surely Mannings current actions show that he would never have signed another deal.
Its just another stick to beat Les with, I'm sure a lot of his actions were engineered by his agent, if he goes to a new club free he probably gets a signing on fee and a bigger wage, oh and the agent gets his percentage...

I’d have him back , his balls into the box would be perfect for dykes to work with next season

Me too…

was getting some stick in the home game last month–- fair play to him giving it back after he set up the equalizer. We could do with a bit of that.

BOS I can see but Manning went to Swansea and took 12 months to get past Bidwell!

It was no loss - really!

When he joined us he was CM, then later he was turned into a LB. It didn't really work as oppo worked out he would only run back 50% of the time. This means the defence were caught out a lot.

At Swansea they play him at CD usually of a 3 on the left hand side of course. This works as he does not venture forward that often to get caught out position that often.

But hes gone from CM, to LB to CD. I think his career was managed badley by QPR as in my view he should have stayed CM, hes was really good there and could have gone to be the next Bannon. QPR's fault when they tried to convert him into a LB.

zzzzzzzzzz

He joined us as a left winger/striker actually, Lazyfan. You couldn't trust a man that lazy in midfield. Or anywhere outside a mattress testing factory.

Hasselbaink may have wasted a year of his career, but he's wasted the rest himself. He's 26 now and was born with just enough talent to have played on the left side of Ireland's senior team thirty or forty times now, so poor are Ireland's options. That he hasn't, and has only managed a scattering of caps is down to his abysmal work-rate, his appaling lack of professionalism in helping out his team-mates, his failure to work on his physique and his staggering inability to stay on his feet should he meet even a medium-sized butterfly.

The lad's a parody of himself at this stage and, judging by his recent appearance at HQ, he's no closer to delivering on whatever talents he has.

Wow! And I just thought he was a wing back or even sometimes a left back who didn't want to, or couldn't, defend.

But apart from that you obviously rate him quite highly!

I know me and you bang on about him, but what I don't get is that poor old Bidwell used to get stick on here and live and yet the wonderful Manning who we lost millions on was kept out of the Swansea team by him for a year or more!

Brian, thank goodness that Myke isn't still posting!

Can you imagine what his reaction to this would have been? UN peace forces would have been required!

Its time to bring Myke back he loves QPR like the rest of us .
Hard not agree with Brian though he should have been able to replace James McClean and worse still Robbie Brady but something was off and I suspect it was his heart and work rate .
Some massive games coming up for ROI and if they do not start scoring goals they are doomed.
Just like us we need a couple Saturday and yes Manning would be an Ainsworth player for his crossing ability IMO.
Maybe not his work rate and faking injuries for sure a no go

I think you may be confused as the player we lost millions on was one-pace side-pass Jakey.

Think Jakey cost us £4m in transfer fee + wages and went on a free transfer to Swansea.

Think with Manning we quadrupled our initial transfer fee when 'selling' to Swansea and he was likely on less than a third of Bidwells exhorbitant wages.

And having watched Jakey from the Paddock for the entire 3 years he was with us, can assure you that I have never seen a player slower than Jakey to get back in position after passing the half-way line. I often passed him when walking for my half-time pie.

Always remember Brentford lad I know laughing when we bought him and his prophetic words, he's just 'so bang average'. He was wrong. He was'nt even that good.

£4 million for Bidwell? Not while mammals still have holes in their arses.

If he was on say 8k a week, that's £1.25m in wages for the three years and we sure as hell didn't pay £2.5m plus for him.

I think he did sign a 3 year deal then after Holloway gave him a chance?

1.6m fee and 2.4m in wages based on reputed £15k per week, transfer data could be wrong, either way, minimal sell-on value and almost up there with Conor Washington for a lazy deal that had both Brentford + Peterborough filling their boots.

Interesting comparison as Charlie Austin’s an example of a footballer who’s probably overachieved in his career through hard work to maximise his potential (granted last season was a step too far at championship level) whilst Manning less so!

If Manning could apply himself like Austin then he’d be playing in the Premiership.

Manning leaving Swansea at end of the season on 14:59 - Feb 20 by CLAREMAN1995

Bigger question if he is still in the starting 11 is he playing to his full potential or just avoiding tackles and playing out the string.
I suspect he will not down tools like a few of our duds because I think he is a model Pro despite his gamesmanship and the way it ended here for him .
He is desperate for a ROI call up with monster games coming up so thats one reason he is still producing

This was why I was annoyed at QPR for selling him for a pittance when he would have been valuable player supplying good quality crosses for Dykes as he had done for Hugill the season before. Instead we had to watch Hamalainen playing at left back.
