Strongly agree. And Odegaard has been brilliant between the lines all tournament, especially against Brazil. Would be an error to focus all on Haaland - sure we won't. Big game in midfield.
Think Norway and England are two very well matched teams. Both have a pair of world class players in CF and attacking midfield, with very strong first 11 supporting cast plus one or two clear chinks in their armour. Would've taken it as a QF at the draw though. |  | | |

I was watching Haaland a lot during the Norway/Brazil game and it really struck me how little he does other than hang around in or near the box waiting for a chance. He doesn't come deep looking for the ball like Kane does, or hang back waiting for a ball over the top he can run on to. He definitely doesn't do dribbly runs. In that respect, in theory he should be easier to nullify than a player with more arrows to his bow.
Odegaard is obviously a threat and I think Ostegard and Berg have been impressive too, but England playing well should have too much for Norway. |  |

I think there is a strong case to play 352 against Norway. I know Tuchel won’t change the set up that much, and we have to trust him.
But I’d be more confident with a back 3 of Stones, Burn, and Guehi against Haaland. You have the ball playing class, the unit, and pace by doing that so might negate him. And if Haaland is neutralised, then England win, surely??
Assuming he keeps his 4231 shape, Gordon and Saka have to start. The midfield 3 picks itself. I think he’ll play James of Konsa at right back. I’d really like to see Stones play with Guehi. I really really do not like this Guehi/Konsa centre half pairing. I think Haaland will have a field day if they play together. |

They dealt with it comfortably enough on Sunday but I’m sure it took a bit out of them probably balanced out by the extra travel for the England team.

The front four will stay the same.
Midfield will stay the same. Anderson created the tackle press for the second goal against Mexico, so he won't be swapped out. Anderson will be tasked with blocking the gap between mid and defence.
O'Reilly was lucky not to be sent off, as they had already sent one off by then; I reckon they did not have the guts to do it again.
As we know, RB is an issue, so I suspect he will start Spence there and wait for Reece to come on.
Mainoo may come on in the later stages if we are winning.
What will be different is the tactics; I suspect the fullbacks will be tasked with going forwards a lot more than against Mexico, hence the selection of Spence.
If Reece is really 100% fit, he may play him and put Spence on the left. But I expect the Fullbacks to be told to attack much more in this game. |  |

Fair point.
In '94 they were seriously affected by the heat, despite playing all their group games in Washington and New York.
A mixture of genetics and the physically intense game they played.

Martin Odeguard is a superb player and I also quite rate Bobb.
Look, anyone making the quarters has to be respected.
We've made it there through strength of charecter and two world class players in Kane and Jude turning up and doing what they do best.
This game feels very even to me and it's mental that I'd actually rather have been playing Brazil purely down to the Haaland effect. It may surprise those of you who don't have me on ignore (you nutters) that I can't shake off negative thoughts and the word "Iceland" keeps jumping inot my head....... that's the country and not the poor quality food outlet and Ms Kerry Katona.
However, I'm looking forward to it and another emotional session in the battle cruiser late doors on a Saturday night.
Still can't bring myself to book following Thursday off work or indeed Monday week.

All season at Arsenal, apart from always being where Arteta wants him to be, I’ve thought he looked well off it. His touch and passing are nowhere near where they once were and he looks slower. England’s entire midfield is better than him.
I don’t see how we lose the tie if Haaland doesn’t score. That has to be the first priority.
Let’s not forget, this England side is scoring goals and creating chances (highest or second highest xG in the tournament I read), Bellingham has been playing outstandingly well, Kane is scoring, we now know our best wide players…Norway should be very fearful of England. Everyone should. |  | | |

I get that - he's certainly not been the player he was before injury lay off's but I do still think he's got it in his locker.
Let's not fall into a trap though of focusing everything on Haaland as that could bite us.
As I said, these look a very even match up to me.
Both squads have great spirit.
Both have a star striker banging them in and leading them really well.
Both will set up similar.
Both have fanatastic fans giving them great backing.
What I'm hoping is we have that little bit extra in the lad Jude.
Sidenote on him --- I couldn't beleive he got capped at around 16 years old as a bit part player and I actually said at the time it was "cheapening the award of England international caps as he looked miles away from the level". Another tick in the column of LBlock knows f'all about f'all.

Ødegaard and the Norwegian team have been improving game by game through these finals, other than the France game after Norway were already through when 10 changes were made to the starting 11. Ødegaard controlled the Brazil game, which Ancelotti admitted too, with strong help from Berg and Berge. If Norway play as well as they did against Brazil I think it will be a tough game for England. | | | |
