wow we don't do easy and our media still moan, that gabriel clarke imo was near insukting to Tuchel and didn't like the response! we won another exhausting game in heat and humidity 42c pitchside was reported, that after mexico at altitude thin air and travel?? norway are decent, we have to realise most teams are competitive and are not walkovers and have not been for ages. we ground out a win, and pickford and his poor kicking cost the goal and later he was nervy and gave away corners bringing them on and on . but held on got level, nearly had a 2nd, a pen ruled out , when can't a player shield the ball anymore? messi gets that all day long. and held out. we now face cheats cheat cheats , yes FIFA next and their team ARGENTINA. we play var, refs, medias and 11 diving fouling screaming cheats who perfected the dark arts . we know its coming .

Because by going across the defender, he has 'initiated he foul' - so I guess drawn the contact.
I think for me, had the ref not given it, it would have been fine. However, he did give it and I dont understand why VAR overturned as it was not a clear and obvious error
But as a championship supporter and watching very little PL I don't completely understand that part.
So protecting the ball by getting your body in the way is now initiating a foul? Football has gone a bit mad over this stuff. Looked a clear penalty pretty much same as foul and red given in the first game for Mexico

I just wanted to say how well I think Elliot Anderson has been playing - put in an amazing shift agaisnt Norway in the heat. His passing is underated, and he does so much clever pressing and wins the ball back lots (I think twice we've scored within 3/4 passes of him winning it back. In many ways I think he's been out of our best players - just does so much work that doesn't really get mentioned.

Mainoo shoud have come on for Rice and left Bellingham where he was - we all love Eze but the game mainly passed him by - and then Reece James into midfield instead of Maino was also strange.
We're in the semi-finals so can't really complain and I feel Tuchel has got that midfield starting 3 right behind Kane and getting the best out of Bellingham so far, good sqaud harmony it appears, but I do feel he's gotten away with it with some of his subs and general squad choices in the wide positions.
That said if he keeps making what I think are dubious decisions and we keep winning I'll be happy!

gotta add how does manueke get a start over rashford ? even playing rashford on the right wing it gievs us more than hes given us so far
like to see him mix things up a bit weds and try him on the right gordon on the left
Agree re Madueke. Great energy, good runs, good pressing but quality final ball, at least so far, has been missing. It does feel like he doesn't have the quality we will need to beat Argentina, and if we do, France. I guess Saka still not fully fit, wouldn't mind Rogers playing there either, I thought he did well when he came on.

Agreed and I think Anderson has been England's player of the tournament so far (much as Kane and Bellingham have grabbed the headlines).
Problem with the subs was when Eze came on he played further forward with Bellingham dropping back which really didn't work and Norway took advantage. But thankfully it got rectified when James came on.

I liked the idea of us trying to go more attacking in midfield, Eze didn't have a great game and we were saying he might come off before we scored the 2nd goal but I quite liked the intent from that and he quite quickly saw it wasn't working and changed it again. He's very proactive with his subs. James in that role made sense as if we scored it would be easy to drop into a back 5 and hold on without using more subs. He plays the role a lot for Chelsea as well.
I think he's been clever with a lot of his choices, A lot of stick for picking Burn over Maguire but he was clearly picked for if we are under the cosh and need someone to just block things which he has done the last 2 games without any of the expectations of starting every game. Spence is looking a better pick with each game, he's done really well off the bench, less great when starting but I don't think he's let us down.
Wednesday is the game for him though, so far we've got to where many thought we would and where we got under Southgate but now can we win the game where we are not favourites and have to beat a team better than us. We've never done it before but I think this could be different. I don't think I've been this excited/nervous about an England game this far out from kick off.

I think he blew his chance on Saturday, I doubt he'll start on Wednesday. Saka is probably an injury thing, gonna be 3 games this week and if he can't do 90 minutes I do get that bringing him on fresh second half with prospect of penalties. I'm sure he'll start on Wednesday though

I like the fact he doesn't go defensive always if we are winning, and brings on someone like Burn when it feels like we need him but....there is going attacking and getting control of the game / midfield. I'm not sure I'd pick James over Mainoo in midfield either, especially a coming back fro injury James when you have a raring to go engertic Mainoo ready and waiting.
Burn vs Maguire an interesting one. No doubt Burn has done well when coming on, its been great to watch and great story for him, similar to Eze's. I think you could still argue Maguire might pose more of a threat at corners for us and might also have been able to clear some of those balls. I suspect Maguire is in for the reason you say, happy to be on the bench and come on when needed, where he was maybe concerned Maguire might not be quite like that as he has gone for team harmony over experience. Total and utter pure speculation in that last sentence.
I agree Spence has played well generally but our delieveries from out wide have been poor generally from fullbacks and wingers. Hard to understand why Chalobah was called up ahead of Hall, Shaw or Trent, and our preferred options have been Quansah and Konsa over someone like Trent at Right back. Anyway, probably been done to death, but for me only having one left footed left back in the squad is crazy. But we are in the semi-finals so what do I know!
Saka did around 80 mins, and James around 60 mins, if you include injury time and so on. So, I don't see why Saka and James cannot start now. If they do get tired, then we can use the subs. If you can do those mins in that heat, you can start. And if they don't start and we are down by the time they come on, then there was no point in resting them.
This is knockout; play them, hope for the best, and then, if we win, hope they can recover. Go large or go home; it's that simple.
Eze has blown his chance now. Did not run back for one of the key Norway breakaways, and as a sub, that's not forgivable by Tuchel. Under Tuchel, all subs must run themselves into the ground. No excuses.
I agree with others that Mainoo should have come on for Rice. Stones is well off the pace. He should not even come on as a sub. Almost gave Haaland a free goal with that silly pass. Redeemed himself when faced with two against one, but that was more to do with the Norway forward being greedy. Burn or Chabolah should be ahead of Stones now. I worry the manager has not learned this lesson.
I am hoping Spence and James start as fullbacks, with Konsa and Guehi in the centre. Spence needs to front up to Messi and use his pace to recover when Messi gets past him, or to block shots/crosses. Also, Messi won't run back to defend, so that leaves the oppo short on that side against Gordon and Spence, who are pace merchants. This is how we win by exploiting Messi's lack of running back on that side of the pitch, doing 1-2's between them and using that pace to force Argentina back.
Subs to come on could then be ... Mainoo, Rogers, Maduke, Burn and O'Relliy/Rashford.
Tuchel is correct, passing needs to be way more accurate and be much quicker to feet. Snappy, quick 5-10-yard passes forward, not sideways. Argentina won't give you the ball back once you lose it. Their midfield is too good.
