Also inevitable especially with our defensive setup.
It might be that Argentina were simply too good and we couldn't stop being pushed back but our approach was defensive which is really so Southgate. Why not stick someone else in the middle rather than the defence, battle with them not surrender.

When we pressed them high up the pitch for the first hour we restricted them to hardly any chances. as soon as we scored. Eleven players defending our penalty area, they hit the post twice, Pickford is having to makes saves, and they score two. Garbage way to go out, we lost it as soon as we went ahead.
