I read once Southgate liked him because he’s essentially a teacher’s pet. Very professional, intelligent in a football sense but probably also academic relative to his peers, understands tactical changes, trains well, not in trouble etc. but yeah never seen it in terms of actual ability even when he was starting regularly for England and scoring a few.

I called out Mount as being an average Prem player when he was Chelsea's top star and being picked for England all the time.
He's just another Deli Alli, except Deli has one more England cap!
Managers like players that get up and down the pitch quickly. The idea is they will put men behind the ball quickly and also get fast breakaways. While Mount can shoot, he cannot tackle or dribble past a player, so he becomes a liability when you don't have the ball and if the oppo gets their defence back in shape. Only suitable for a counterattack, for that late run into the box and cut-back finish. Too niche.
That's why Chelsea sold him; he costs you goals and can only be helpful in one way. Stupid managers think he's like Bellingham; he's not and never will be. This has now been proven beyond doubt.
We can now laugh at Manure for paying well over the odds for another well-overrated player.
