Why can’t we play him as a bit of insurance in midfield?
Varane & Madsen are a bit flaky?
The fella must be a bit miffed warming the bench?

The centre of midfield has been a disaster waiting to happen all season.
Varane really not reaching the levels of last season, Madsen improving but not exactly pulling up any trees.
Byond that we have Field, who is now a left back, and Morgan, who is now a right back, and an aging Hayden.
If we make it through the season without getting sucked into a battle for relegation with hose 5 as our options then we've done very very well.
It's where the money needs to be spent in this squad (and without selling anyone next summer I worry if we have the money to actually do it)

the tastics dont allow for it though he wants two holding central midfield players, issue os neither can play that role to weak on the ball and leave players to run through them most games by not tracking back

True but at least Morgan will get up and down! And he can shoot.

I’ve no problem with Hayden and morgan starting on sat in the middle esp now field looks like he’s out for a while . Can’t go through another 90 mins of backward/ sideways passing from varanne and half arsed closing down from madson again thats for sure . If this weeks formation is still Burrell u; front the. Chair drops in behind as a 10 with saito as a left winger smyth on the right . Norrignton funnily enough left back

I could live with that too.

But clearly Varane and Madsen are the geese with the golden eggs so will play almost no matter what.

I'm guessing once you get Varane or Madsen over 50+ apps in the Championship they have some resale value.

No-one is paying any money to buy Hayden, he's just cover now

I'm just curious who is going to be in for them, playing in a middling Championship team that largely loses more than wins. But I suppose that's what scouts do, unearthing gems who will perform much better in better equipped teams.

if Varane and Madsen are our rough diamonds, I'm neurotypical!

Well as we all know, football clubs often pay good money for any old rubbish.

A lot on here were berating JS for being a “tinker man”. If anything CM hasn’t been rotated enough. Madsen looks tired and Varane is off it. By default, Hayden/Morgan should be getting more minutes for me.

None of them are performing to a level where they have to start (like Burrell), and you have a squad for a reason. Find the anti rotation sentiment very strange when we’re off on the hellish schedule to March now.

Managers can never win with this unless we're winning nearly every game. If they're not tinkering or playing tombola they're only playing their favourites or flogging them to injury.

If they change the starting line up after a win they're castigated for changing a winning team, if they don't they're castigated for not bringing in fresh legs.

Think Hayden should be getting a look in, alongside Madsen. Expect with all the games coming up between now and early January, we will see Hayden getting starts. I blow a bit hot and cold with Varane he tend to have this annoying trick outside our own box of turning back and on a few occasions at home been robbed of the ball. Madsen vast improvement on last season. But as someone has outlined the re-sale opportunities are with Madsen and Varane, if we do sign Edwards expect one of those 2 will be sold.

Great discussion. For me, Varane has shown enough to attract interest which in itself is peaks volumes. He basically is doing the job is 2. I agree with many here, Morgan deserves a look in Madsens role.

It’s very obvious why Madsen and Varane keep playing every week. The club are pinning their hopes on their values going up to make profit. Playing Hayden doesn’t give you that given his age etc.

I assume the reason with RND being in and out the team recently is there must be some kind of commitment to buy if he plays a certain number of games.

Team for me in recent weeks just looks unbalanced. I suspected this might happen when Chair came back. I was never a fan of Dunne at centre back previously. No surprise we are shipping in lots of goals now he’s back there. For me he plays if he’s a right back otherwise he should be benched. But making him captain means he has to play!

Also mystifying how Morgan hasn't featured much this season, especially when the player (s) in front of him haven't really been pulling up any trees.

I know the club think Varane or Madsen are the next £20m golden boys but if they're not performing well then there need to be consequences.

Morgan isn't a CM, not good enough in there, but he could be a really good RB. His best performances have been playing RB this season - pace, passing etc.

CM today is dog shyte and its the biggest fck up by Nourry this season and it was done on purpose.

Poll: How is Nourry cooking so far ? 🤣

Varane is doing the job of 2?

I would sugest that it is Madsen having to carry an uninterested partner. The market value of Varane is decreasing with every game he plays!

I promise I'm not CN. I was posting on dot.org 20 years ago, arguing with Doran...

I still think Madsen is a valuable asset for QPR. Every team would want a 6' plus mobile, cultured no.6/8 who can also tackle and has played more than x50 in the Championship.

He's had a little purple patch where there was a glimpse of a player, but I think having Chair in the team dropping back to QB and build play is not helping him.

For Varane, all thats missing is some determination, aggression and the will to take a chance and pass forward. If we see that, I'd hope one of the many sets of coaches we have also spotted this. If the player can't develop this then we don't have an asset there...

Only kidding! Matt Doran, now there is an internet personality I really miss

I think Varane does have many useful facets to his game, even shooting from distance (see his goal at Leicester in the Cup) but for whatever reason he struggles to bring them all to the fore.

I refuse to believe our coaches tell him to ping a pass backwards 99/100 , it has to be confidence, or a lack of belief in his teammates

Doran tried to get me sacked once, by contacting my boss over some row we had!

we have been shipping goals all season , coventry anyone ?
usually with a loan player if fit they play regardless .

we are shipping more goals this season as the central midfield do neither cover or attack , they are in sort of never land and do neither , last season field was playing more and we lost games by the odd goal mainly field isnt fancied this season unless its at left back it seems and varanne and madson are never seen tracking attacking players

There's definitely a general problem with making it far too easy for teams to play through us, and I'll use as evidence once again the persistent failure to contest throw ins. That's a basic at any level isn't it? It doesn't require any great level of ability to reduce the options for an opponent's throw.

I think they both track back. Madsen did successfully in the last Norwich game for instance when Field got injured, prevented a cross from the goal line, and I see him cover back a lot.
