Club doing consultation on whether to expand the rail seating. They’re currently looking at blocks PU, QU and Y.

Rail seating has been a feature at MATRADE Loftus Road since its implementation in the 2022/23 season, and is widely considered by supporters to have had a positive impact on the matchday atmosphere.

A further extension of the existing rail seating offering at the stadium is currently being explored, and we’re reaching out to potentially impacted supporters to begin a consultation process.

The areas currently being explored are:

Block PU of the GO-OUT Upper Loft
Block QU of the GO-OUT Upper Loft
Block Y of The Stanley Bowles Stand
Those potentially impacted have been contacted directly via email with a request to complete a questionnaire. The club has asked for responses to be submitted by Wednesday 31st December 2025. Following this date, the responses will be analysed.

If you believe you should have received the consultation email and questionnaire but have not, please email marketing@qpr.co.uk.

Please note that this is the start of the consultation only, and this is not confirmation that further rail seating will be introduced at MATRADE Loftus Road.

doing the upper loft makes a lot of sense, the lack of leg room up there is unbearable, hopefully it ends up happening

Aren't the paddocks where we have our accessible area for wheelchair users etc?
I guess the rail seats don't work there?

I think it’s the biggest improvement to happen at loftus road for years.

Why not make the entire lower loft safe standing, and have the folk who wanna sit, in the upper loft?

Visually, having the entire lower loft as safe standing would be fantastic.

because the upper loft has very little leg room and you have to have some areas for seating
The PU and Q & R blocks are the best in the stadium for atmosphere imo so makes a lot of sense to make them safe standing.

Unless you build a roof on the lower loft the atmosphere is pretty quiet even with the safe standing,

What does GO OUT mean ?

Are they talking about the whole PU block ? ie. Front to Back rows ?

They should leave some seating at the front IMO, maybe 5 rows for those that can’t stand comfortably for 2 hours.

It's cause of the family stand isn't it?

We are a funny club - most teams would have one 'kop' area, we're sprinkling it around all over the ground.

Poll: And it's hi ho

Sounds like a sponsorship deal on the Loft stand. Not heard about it but google thinks it is a company using "AI-powered embedded-Finance software, helping Sports Teams and Music Festivals to crush overhead expenses.'

"Remember to listen to me but look at her. Don't get it the wrong way round. That would be hideous."

not really, our Kop section is that corner where they are planning to expand the rail seating

Linking to the new stadium discussion, does rail seating offer us the best opportunity to stay at LR and retain the current capacity/similar. I assume everyone would agree the current leg room all round the stadium is dreadful and with with any ground updates it has to be addressed. But using rail seating would allow us to keep the same sq ft per seat. We could retain the front 3-5 rows all round the stadium as seated, with a little more legroom, then use rail seating behind on all 4 stands. They then redevelop the corners to add further capacity and potentially with smart designs/gradient they could add a few additional rows at the back/above without raising the overall height of the stadium which I guess would be a challenge. The stadium become 80-90% rail seating, capacity retained, upgrade SA hospitality and it would create a great atmosphere....but this may have already been considered and ruled out?

Do me a favour. The SA Rd stand is totally unsuited to rail seating. There are a lot of season ticket holders that wouldn't want, or be able, to stand or be exposed to the elements and sun in their eyes in the front rows.

It's bad enough being forced to stand at most away games, we would have to stop coming if your suggestion was accepted.

Just let the club do the consultation on their proposed area and see how that turns out. Btw, it doesn't create extra room and adding little bits in the corners and at the back of the stands would almost certainly be cost prohibitive. Even in the days of all standing in the Loft, School End and Paddocks the percentage was probably a great deal less than 80-90%.

Of course it was significantly lower than 80%, before all-seaters, but its kind of irrelevant. I'm not saying it creates more legroom, just allows it to remain as it is. Understand you may not like it, and my suggestion clearly has many issues, but to your point of wanting your seat in the exact spot you want it, the club won't move on. My suggestion still allows for a few thousand seats on the front rows for those who need it. The ground could be redeveloped as its done, so the layout lends itself to rail seating and the front rows aren't out in the rain.

Selfishly, I favour keeping the front 3 to 5 rows full seating.

But you mention ‘retaining capacity’ ?
Why, is there a move to reduce he capacity ? I’ve not heard of any need for that.

And if not increasing it. So no increased income. So other than the possibility of a better atmosphere (I’m not convinced, performance on the pitch is more relevant IMO), I don’t see justification for the initial outlay. Oh, maybe legroom ?
