| Team for Stoke? 16:36 - Jan 14 with 12307 views | FDC | Have we had updates on Saito and Dembele? Would be good to get back to winnings ways and build a bit of momentum again, but really tough game. Walsh Mbengue-Dunne-Ronnie-RND (hopefully available?) Bennie?-Field/Hayden-Madsen-Smyth Kone-Kolli Id actually like to see Bennie brought on up front when Kolli runs out of puff, but we might need him in place of Dembele? Off on a tangent but I found Dave Mc's take on WLS interesting, about how we should be looking to try 433 a go again, with Kone as the the striker - basically "yes Burrell has been great but as a team we would be stronger with Kone as the main striker". I don't think we will, but this could be a good time to experiment Walsh Mbengue-Dunne-Ronnie-RND Morgan/Hayden-Madsen-Field Kolli-Kone-Smyth Edit. Formatting [Post edited 14 Jan 16:39]

I can confirm I am not Matt Winton although I can also confirm that, like him, I’m rather sick and tired of the constant negativity, bleating, group think and occasional derangement syndrome that affects some on here which is why I have been posting a lot less lately. [Post edited 16 Jan 15:20]

| Team for Stoke? on 12:11 - Jan 16 by wombat | we have the same issue we always have with wingers, playing on the wrong side to get behind a defender and being able to deliver a decent cross as they are on the wrong foot so usually cut in and deliver an in swinger , its the fashionable way to play wingers this way but boils my pi$$ |
There's no point in just picking on Dembele - our final ball/crossing quality has been lamentable all season, and JS needs to do something about it.

Thanks for confirming. Is having ten outfield first team players out this weekend actually good news? It would be cool if you could clarify because the deranged group think is only telling me it's probably suboptimal. Thanks in advance.

| Team for Stoke? on 09:42 - Jan 16 by FDC | I'd like to see Bennie given a go up front - where those that have seen him in the DS say he's looked good - if / when Kolli needs to come off. So, Morgan move in to replace him at RM... wait, that leaves an empty RB space... Dunne moves to RB?... Edwards in at CB? It's like a rubrics cube this. Edit. I do like the idea of the board going up and it being a substitution of Edwards on for Kolli though, should get the natives scratching their heads. [Post edited 16 Jan 9:43]

The problem with looking god for the DS team is he is competing against kids. He needs to be on loan in L2 or the National League to compete against men. I would ship out as many of these 1st team hopefuls as possible on loan to these leagues in January where they can learn and come back ready for a place in the QPR squad or a loan to a League 1 squad next autumn.

I'm not a fan of Dembele either. Occasionally he does something good, but for the most part, I haven't seen him do enough in games to convince me he is good enough for the Championship. I'd sell him if any decent bids were submitted and get someone else in. QPR could always get a % of a sell on fee should he turn out to be a better player than I think he is.

Agreed. But at least the likes of Saito and Smyth do more off the ball to help their team mates. Dembele usually just isn't bothered. The age old chestnut, "Hard work beats talent when talent doesn’t work hard."

| Team for Stoke? on 13:13 - Jan 16 by Padulas_Shampoo | So... Just to clarify. With Dembele, Vale and Mbengue having tests, if none of those are fit enough, the list of players unavailable is: Morrison Clarke Salter Mbengue Dembele Chair Saito Poku Vale Varane Burrell Which leaves of the established first team players: Dunne Cook RND Edwards Field Smyth Hayden Madsen Morgan Kone Kolli That's 48% of our outfield players that are injured. Someone make this make sense. That cannot be a coincidence. I have no idea how you pick a team to be competitive over 90 mins. |
I read that Hull only have 12 fit players for their game at Southampton tomorrow. Don't know who is in charge of the fitness & training there, but must have learnt from the same place as Ben Williams.

Fairly horrific injury list when you lay it out like that. I guess you always have some inuries, but when it's this high I wonder how many are preventable, and how many are out of our control? Hard to know if we are Spurs last season loads of injuries, players overworked, bad pitch, cold weather, bad tackles etc and bad conditioning training or a combination of several factors. You'd hope when they injury list is this high some sort of internal review would be happening to see if there is a pattern and to reduce the chance of it happening again.

He's been odd for a while there and always accuses me of being anti QPR at the slightest hint of criticism which is always a bit annoying considering how much I spend watching the team all over the copuntry and how many hours a day I put into my website and youtube channel, if I was anti QPR i'm pretty sure I could find something better to do with my time. He's blocked me now for saying that our fitness and player availability could be improved, all a bit over the top really.I find it bizarre how his Dad would always question those in charge but he seems to be dead against anyone questioning what goes on.

it is inevitable this time of year to get injuries, those 4 games in 9 days was ridiculous but we didn't help ourselves playing Poku in all 4 games when he has clear hamstring issues.

No, I don't think we've helped ourselves at all, and the amount of muscle, soft tissue and hamstring injuries we're picking up is not right at all. We lost four players before half time in that Sheff Wed game. That's not normal. I can't ever recall that happening before in my time watching Rangers. Three more at West Ham is seven in a week. And like I say the schedule won't be any different next year, so take the criticism on board and work out how we can be better and improve next year. Don't try and double down using all sorts of spurious stats to back yourself up.

yeah I don't think it's a bad thing to look to identify things that haven't gone well and do them better. There is lots we can improve on from set pieces to away form and also to our fitness issues. I don't particularly want heads to roll and I'm sure everyone invovled will be looking for ways to do better next season and again the year after that. Pretending it's not an issue is not going to help us.

| Team for Stoke? on 12:08 - Jan 16 by nick_hammersmith | Can sometimes veer into SWP territory. I'd hate to be the fullback on his side, or the #9 making runs to get on the end of his "crosses" For the West Ham game he only delivered the one decent ball, which Kone converted, but other forwards might have stopped making the runs earlier after the ball was kicked into touch again. |
That free kick he skied over the bar from a brilliant crossing position infuriated me. "Oh look im playing a premiership club, let me shoot and try and score a worldy instead if crossing and giving the team a chance" Prick.

That's a shame to hear mate. I don't always agree with what you say, and I'm sure likewise with me, but I always know it's coming from a genuine, good place of QPR support and wanting the best for the club. It's also always delivered thoughtfully and respectfully. I made sure we had Matt on as one of our first guests on the podcast this season because I think it's important to hear all sides of opinions and arguments (the only site/podcast that's done this so far I believe), but I did say to him on that show it feels a little bit odd to be told that we should not criticise, just trust the people running the club and treat QPR as a nice day out with the kids by somebody whose family have been just about the most prominent and vocal critics of multiple QPR regimes over the last 30+ years.

Yeah it would be weird if we all agreed on everything and this forum would be a bit dull. It's amplified on social media now but ultimately everyone thinks they are right, no matter what the subject. You'll get some people just saying stuff for attention but I've always found whatever the subject stuff people can have wildly different opinions on the same thing. I actually find Matt and others point of view on everything being near perfect quite interesting as it's different to how I see it but I'm very open to the fact I could well be wrong and i really hope I am. I've gone hot and heavy on many players, manager and ceo in the past and sometimes been right and quite often wrong. I wrote a glowing AKUTRS article about Mike Rigg once and I remember years ago on the QPR list getting very angry about the idea of Ian Holloway being manager and he turned out to be one of my favourite ever managers. Anyway on the team news for tomorrow I think he'll go same as last week with Smyth in for Saito and I reckon if Dembele is out he'll start Bennie

Didn't they pay for the Shittu transfer and wages back in the day? Thats got to be a free pass for an element of nonsense on social media... It's QPR, of course we are going to buy someone, and there is always something good to moan about! ;D

1/ I can't believe he's blocked you. That's very snowflake of someone resolutely anti-snowflake. He's always seemed a good sort. Blocking is quite violent, really, it's a message. Muting is sufficient unless you're blocking actual personal abuse, racism, etc. 2/ I remember the Holloway post on the list! Ironically, Dave Mc wrote a very long piece then about how Holloway could turn out to be the equivalent of Martin O'Neil at Leicester for QPR (almost true, really). By the end, Dave Mc was pulling his hair about Olly, quite down on him (and vice versa!) and you were his biggest fan. You'd swapped positions. That's why blocking someone over an opinion on QPR is mental. We all change our minds all the time based on...results. It's a fickle business. Get on with it. [Post edited 16 Jan 17:09]
