Have we had updates on Saito and Dembele?

Would be good to get back to winnings ways and build a bit of momentum again, but really tough game.

Id actually like to see Bennie brought on up front when Kolli runs out of puff, but we might need him in place of Dembele?

Off on a tangent but I found Dave Mc's take on WLS interesting, about how we should be looking to try 433 a go again, with Kone as the the striker - basically "yes Burrell has been great but as a team we would be stronger with Kone as the main striker".

I don't think we will, but this could be a good time to experiment

If we look at all the squads though, there are no injuries in the ladies team, the tigers or the U8's So, in actual fact our injuries are well below average. sorry if you cant see you favourite players

WLS also reporting Stephan saying he might wait to include Ronnie Edwards in the QPR side as he hasn't started a game for two and a half months and was training on his own for the last couple of weeks he was at Southampton.

Nearly all first team regulars, so not really comparable to some of the horror show sides we've put out the last few seasons.

We will have to play more defensively to get through this, otherwise we'll be on the wrong end of several 3-1s

Barrel scraping at this point, but assuming a lot of wingers out, could Esquerdinha be a short term left wing option? Very left sided, not great one on one defensively but that matters less on the wing and I think his attacking output isn't that bad. He can cross a ball and loves a shot, he's quick and doesn't mind taking people on. I remember Cifuentes used to do this with Larkeche occasionally, quite handy with 10-15 minutes to go

Definitely worth trying if Saito is unavailable.

With Poku out, Dembele maybe injured, but not very effective anyway, Chair injured, we only have Smyth remaining, so why not Esquerdinha on the left wing.

As you say, he is better at attacking anyway.

This changes things, maybe.

The absence of Edwards' ball-carrying, coupled with the possible absence of Mbengue's pace might tempt Stéphan back towards a deep back-line. That would also suit Cook, who's at his best with a low-block and a backs to the wall scenario.

The only problem with a deep back line is Burrell's pace would be ideal for the out ball.
With Burrell missing, would it be worth considering Smyth in the Burrell role?

Mbengue has caught the Sam Field bug from last season. Almost every game going down and holding a leg or his back, sometimes needing treatment. Johanssen had that a couple of years ago too.

Agree Mbengue has fitness problems, about the 80th minutes in most games he goes down with some sort of problem looking to come off.

It's a tough ask going to the newish Victoria ground at the best of times. Add to that their league position, our injuries and general fitness and understandable why expectations are low.

Nevertheless, there will be two teams on the pitch. If we show the same fight and spirit that we did on Sunday as well as taking any chances we create, there could be something for us.

Field will come on for RND on 60. Ronnie for Cook on 70. But no real attacking change possible unless Frey can be brought out of deepfreeze. Pearman would've got on the bench but is away I believe, and Sutton's gone back out?

Other options he'll consider...Adamson at RB and Morgan at 10 once Kolli's knackered. Esquerdinha to come on to the wing once Bennie's not made any impact or to give Smyth a rest if the game is settled oneway or another. Brunson or Trujillo on the bench?

Astonishing to be so short up top when we have Chair, Saito, Poku, Dembele, Vale, Burrell...

I'm a proper pedant for these things, but I'm literally getting sick and tired with the word 'literally' being misused in relation to idioms and metaphors of every kind when all that is being inserted is a spurious intensifier. For which I blame Jamie Redknapp and, probably, Gary Neville.

From what I've seen of Trujillo, he's a long way from the first team squad at the moment. I haven't seen much of Brunson. I could see Sutton being included on the bench though.

I'd like to see Bennie given a go up front - where those that have seen him in the DS say he's looked good - if / when Kolli needs to come off.

So, Morgan move in to replace him at RM... wait, that leaves an empty RB space... Dunne moves to RB?... Edwards in at CB?

It's like a rubrics cube this.

Edit. I do like the idea of the board going up and it being a substitution of Edwards on for Kolli though, should get the natives scratching their heads.

His body language sometimes isn’t the best but I’m not reading that much into it. Some players can just be that way. For sure there are games where it feels like he’s not putting the yards in defensively but I’ve seen others where that’s been improved. Think he’s more wildly inconsistent than having a bad attitude.

Stoke away feels very much one for Dunne at right-back if no Mbengue rather than Morgan. I get the rationale about not rushing Edwards but it feels the less risky option. Dunne-Cook-Edwards-RND is a back four that should reliable in a game we’ll be under the cosh a fair bit.

Don’t dislike the idea of Morgan right side, Smyth left. Kolli off of Kone and then the same players could be a 4-3-3 with Kolli and Smyth wide of Kone. Prefer Kolli central though and think he prefers it too.
