He’s not that kind of player and never will be. You can dominate a game with the ball. He needs a destroyer beside him. Don’t recall DeBruyne charging around the pitch tackling box to box. He destroyed teams by moving the ball around in a way that no one could get near him. Admittedly, the players around him knew how to take care of the ball when they received it.

| Madsen on 18:24 - Jan 21 by ParkRoyalR | When Madsen was shall we say acclimatising on the bench in his first season Mirgan manned up & was excellent until he ran out of gas. Dembele is another option in that CAM role as is Chair. This team is going nowhere playing nice neat 15 yard passes. |
Not going anywhere giving it back to the opposition either. Madsen seems the only one capable of passing it to his own teammates.

De Bruyne opened up defences, Madsen very very rarely does. Still a long way from justifying his price tag imo. Decent assist for Burrell other week, decent cross for Varane's headed goal and that's all I can recall, has a long long way to go. Might be easy on the eye but he's not hurting poor opposition teams as evidenced in last month.

He has the tools, others simply don’t. It will come. With the right support.

| Madsen on 16:39 - Jan 21 by ParkRoyalR | I disagree, Would we get our money back on him? Is his cautious passing opening teams up? A couple of goals, a penalty & maybe a couple of genuine assists? There's an argument the Wingers & Forwards are struggling because Madsen is just not creating. Lots will likely disagree, and he has improved, albeit he had to, but I think he's vastly over-rated by many on this board, time may prove me wrong. |
You're right and they're wrong! To call him Prem quality is risible. He's passable Champ quality at best. Plays in glimpses and creates little or nothing. [Post edited 21 Jan 19:49]

I think it's a mentality thing and why he struggled in his first season, Morgan came on in a recent home game recently and nothing came off for him & he got alot of criticism, But I really admired everything he tried to do as he took personal risks to benefit the team and try to win the game, the complete opposite of how Madsen plays the game.

I’m pleased he’s found the confidence to play and I agree that he’s now established himself as a key player. Is he Premier League quality? 🤨 Let’s just enjoy his football and not worry about that. | | | | Login to get fewer ads

I do think he could attempt to do more but I also think the players could give him more options when he is on the ball. We can see he has the passing ability but maybe he won't force a pass if he doesn't think it is on. I have seen a number of times when he has 'played it safe' he gestures to the person who he wanted to get the ball for not getting in good position.

Difficult for him to pass to most of them as they can barely control the ball.
