Apparently it is his hamstring. Another one with a hamstring injury. Will we see him again this season? Huge loss for us if so.

Never knowingly right.

i have been expecting this sadly.

Next to go is likely to be Kone.

I am not putting it down to bad luck though.

Its about the conditioning of players, but losing Madsen this season is our biggest loss of all. Now letting Field go on loan, even if the cash came in, it can be seen as a strange decision at best.

Especially disappointing as he isn’t one of our usual sick notes.

Thing is, it’s been so bloody obvious (as it was with Burrell) that it was going to happen that some of us have been calling for him to be rested (as we were with Burrell) for weeks now.

I don’t know what Williams’ team are up to? I cannot believe after he’s played every game this season practically and the full 90 in most that the data was showing them he was still good to go. Why weren’t they urging he be rested? If they were, Why weren’t they ignored? I dare say Kone is next given how we’re flogging him at the minute. I think he’s carrying a knock anyway.

And why have SO many of our squad had hamstring tears this season? I know the numbers in the league are up, but we’ve still had a lot. As did Brooklyn Nets last season. It has to be a Williams’ method that simply doesn’t translate from cycling to football.

There needs to be some accountability in the Performance function. The club’s leadership seems fine holding others accountable in the club, why not Williams? The Performance department needs an overhaul. A playing trading model cannot work if all your assets are injured. No one’s value increases when they aren’t playing. Bring in someone qualified with a proven record in football.

Well there’s your next most sellable asset fcked.

This “performance” regime cannot sustain. This is ridiculous now. Kone for a full set.

Posted something very similar to the last 2 posts on the match thread .

We were all worried it was going to happen…but why?
Footballers should be conditioned and fit enough to play 46 matches in 9 months!
Ours are no where near it . 3 games in 8 days is way beyond our capabilities. Either physically or mentally .
Again, as I said elsewhere, the best thing CN can do in the summer is move his best mate and his team on, do some homework and get people in the building who are fit for purpose . I think he’d gain a lot of respect by doing so .
Something has to change .

This has to be a turning point now. Madsen is the golden child, the big project, the 'haha, proved you all wrong' guy. Now even he's sitting down holding his hammy.

Get some people in here who know what they're doing.

Get someone in there who knows what they are doing indeed.

Cycling fitness expertise is not football fitness expertise . Different sport, different dynamics, different conditioning, different everything.

Too many chancers at the club, learning (badly) on the job.

I don't think it's just us. It's more a consequence of the intensity of the game these days, and the complexity of the fitness requirements for the players.

I think it was Hoopsa who said this on X last night but thats Morrison, Burrell, Varane, Poku, Saito, Dembele, Smyth and Madsen all pulling up with injuries in the last 9 games.

Untl those running the club admit their is a problem nothing will change.

Such as shame as we've made some positive steps forward this season as we did last year but it's going to drift away now through our own mistakes that were preventable.

Totally agree.. it is the modern game played so fast and so physically now

Which makes this recent injury so unbelievable. OK we can say say, pardon the pun, that injuries have "hamstringed" JS choices, but he as to contend with this and adapt

I was one of the few on here that wasn't too upset with the 3 x 0-0 bore fest, I kinda understand that, but what totally defies logic is playing players until they literally collapse

I went last night, and I had every expectation of us being beat, but you kinda hope that he would rest Kone, Madsen and even Dunne

We could have started Bennie for Kone, Varane for Madsen and JCS for Dunne.. stodge it up and even might have sneaked a draw...

But know we play the exact same team.... people are having a go at Dunne... and I can't get my head around it... yes he had a bad game.... but FFS the lad is dead on his feet.... like Kone is.... and now Madsen is....

I left after the 4th... and I'm old enough and ugly enough to shrug a shoulder and say well let's go again, it wasn't my first Shellacking, that was Man utd in 1968... and I'm guessing it won't be my last.

But what is p!ssing me off this morning it the club, not the players... the club have put these players in this position

Inadequate preparation, poor use of resources, poor management, playing and recruiting players not suited for this division... the list can go on and on...

Second game in against Watford, who were there for the taking, but we looked out of puff from the hour mark. It was then that the 'loading' philosophy was ventilated and discussed on here.

But as someone said above and as we've all to a man, woman, and a dog been saying all season: we just don't look fit!

I only saw 20 mins last night, but thought we looked ponderous and way off it. Poor fitness, conditioning, and rehab will only ever lead to new and repetitive injuries.

This is what we've all been banging on about and seven months in, the fitness and medico-rehab folks are not proving us wrong.

Throw in the purchasing of players with injury records, it's a recipe for failure.

100%

Yes, the game is more physical and more constant, but it is the same for every other team and none of them seem to have 9 players out each week.

Combine that with a small, unbalanced squad and your left with having to get a bunch of kids, who should be learning through a loan at another EFL club, on a pitch they are not ready for.

We are a really, really poor football club these days and it breaks my heart how far we are away from the team I grew up with.

Can we go out yet?

I does put the 'start the season undercooked so that we come into our own at the business-end of the season' in the toilet, eh?

I do think the club needs a rethink on who's running the fitness, or the strategy etc.

Madsen is a HUGE loss... imagine saying that a year ago.

Devastating.

Thats a big part of it, we started the season undercooked, unable to push on in the second half of games as we were not fit yet and it's been that way all season.

Not sure if it was on here or X I read this but RND made a run first half on the break about 60 yards and he looked as out of breath as I am when I climb the stairs to my Mum and Dads flat on the 4th floor. Hands on head, hands on hips bending over, I thought he was going to be sick.

They simply can't play at the same intesity 3 times in a week and for a championship club that is nowhere near good enough
