He is clueless. Yes, we have injuries but what exactly is our game plan? The crowd are turning. Varane was cheered off. Think this season is going to get much worse - if he's still there for Millwall, that could be the tipping point.
I can't see Stephan being with us next season, probably go back to French football and leave by mutual consent. Don't think he will be sacked may even have a break clause in his contract on a one year rolling basis.

Sounds like a probable scenario. I just don't think him and the Championship really gel. He will probably be delighted to go back to France. Some managers just don't fit an environment.

Clueless now but wasn't at the beginning of the season, initially he did well. He seems to be sinking in to a rut wearing blinkers at the moment.

I don't know. If you had to say what his style is, what would you say? Passive. Long balls. We barely press. I get we have injuries but we were playing poorly before Christmas too. Today, come out and have a go. We were 14th, they were 16th. Why be so bloody passive in the first half, letting them pass it around where they liked?
Marti was so much better and got so much more out of a worse squad. True, he lost it towards the end but he had Nourry briefing against him. Stephan is Nourry's man. That's pretty terrifying tbh - this style of play is ill-suited to this league.
If you take most of the parts of an engine out of a car - and the steering wheel, you can push the car down a hill and for a short while it will look like a car until it inevitably hits a wall.
That's what's happened to our team with all the injuries.

Yeah but we've lost a couple of games so let's sack the f*cker anyway.
Then we can hire another manager who's just been sacked from somewhere else for the exact same reason.
But, I don’t agree with you. You think there weren’t injuries last season and that the seasons are incomparable. I disagree with you. I think you are wrong. There were severe injuries last season season. Our Chairman references it in the account. Therefore I think the seasons are comparable. The only real variance for comparison’s sake is that this squad is better and has had more money spent on it so we should finish higher.
Please could you stop putting inaccurate words in my mouth.
I don’t have a problem with people holding different opinions, but I think it’s deliberately disingenuous to say we didn’t have injury issues last season.
I clearly stated our injuries THIS season are worse than our injuries LAST season: injuries bad BOTH seasons but this season’s are WORSE. It’s really not too hard to understand. The club need to resolve it as Stéphan has no chance of consistent success in the circumstances: I’m sure you can agree with that.

A bigger squad this year and we've had at least one striker to pick every game this year unlike last when we had to resort to the likes of Celar (20 plus games!) , Smyth and Dembele playing up front. And despite all the supposedly great work during the transfer windows, all the money spent this summer, and the apparent greater depth of the squad, Stephan has gained pretty much the same points per game this season as Cifuentes did last.

You did not clearly state that before. Have gone back, looked at your posts, and you have absolutely not *clearly* stated that.
Nevertheless, glad you agree our injuries have been bad both seasons and it needs addressing. Think almost everyone understands that.
West London Sport post match interview - that guy does not look happy.
Hearing that it does feel like he might leave end of season.
In terms of performance, I think he's done ok but Cifuentes did slightly better IMO as not only did he have worse options at his disposal but also some players emerged or played better under Cifuentes. Madsen's the clear exception, but we saw the emergence of Morgan, a different Saito, a world beating Edwards and some proper Varane performances under Marti.
Neither Stefan or Cifuentes are top managers but I tend to agree that the manager is not the main problem at the club (how can he be with an injury list like that for the second season running?)
A lot of disenchanted players out there first half, a manager with any confidence in himself would have removed the left back before JCS sent him into isolation.
Can’t help wondering if a dressing room coup at half time had Vale shuffled into LB, he played that role at Bristol.
Starting to puzzle if many are seeking the sanctuary of the treatment room.

Agree Bongo. His body language and way he responds shows, for the first time publicly, his inner frustration(s). JS has done an admirable job protecting his teams, and the club, but he’s pushing water uphill at the moment. Two bad team performances in a row has hit fans hard and JS too - I think we all expected more from the players in that first 45 minutes.
We didn’t get it and we don’t see any players coming out, stepping up and saying what they need to do to get through this period of weakness through injuries. I said elsewhere that I was disappointed in JD after the first goal went in, his head was down and he needed a captain to pick him up - except he IS the captain and he needs to lead this team. I’m a big fan of Jimmy but he really needs to lead this team on the pitch right now. I get it’s a young team and we won’t have a depth of experience to deal with this type of situation, it’s really tough; but as the saying goes “when the going gets tough …”
Stephan may not be the solution but he's not the problem either. This is a long term issue, that is coming from years of abject senior management. The only way to move forward is a clearout of Hoos, Nourry, Belk and Williams and any others who are loyal to them.
Ive never been comfortable with Nourry, or anyone who thought he was a good idea. Decided to see if he could prove me wrong, he hasn't and now pretty certain he won't, he's a charlatan.
Without being great, i think Stephan has shown enough to suggest he'd be fine with the right leaders above. He's not the issue.

Yup, agree this problem, which is an annual one at this time of year, is not about the manager, it's about the resources, which was my Eric Cantona type comment.
For the first time Julien looks exhausted and exasperated. I know this is actually a much longer season than he's been used to but I think losing so many key players has changed his demeanour from calm to a bit depressed.

Hoos has been at the club years and years - where we have gone absolutely nowhere - and is not only the common denominator, but STILL has executive decision-making power. He’s like a cockroach that somehow survives everything.

Exactly this. I can recall when we played Barnsley at home and within about 30 minutes were trailing 0-2, Warbs took decisive action immediately by replacing at least two players and moved Kakay from the left-back position.

Very clearly not happy with the injury situation and what is available to him.
First obvious signs of discord behind the scenes.
Also very clear he is hugely unimpressed with Saito and Esquerdinha for that first goal. He’d obviously told the team about the patterns Utd like to play down the flank and then we ignored that positionally for their first. You can sense his exasperation.
Nourry’s “we have no injury problem” looks increasingly untrue, and not something the head coach agrees with. Who does he back? Stephan or Williams?

Finally, someone has said this about JD. He's the captain, the guy you turn to when things are going wrong, and he doesn't seem to want to lead.
How can the captain allow Varane to start having a pop at Esquadinha? I've never seen Dunne pull the team together post conceding and get them to refocus.
I'll not have a go at the youngsters, but some of these senior players should be charged with dereliction of duty. Dunne, Varane, Hayden, Saito, Smyth - none want to lead. It's just an arms out wide looking at everyone else to blame.
If the older players are not leading, then what are they actually contributing?

Didn't JD get them together after one of the goals at Southampton? Not that it helped .

But everybody could see what was coming as soon as the team lineup was announced with Saito and Esquerdinha on the left. THAT is on 100% on Stephan.
