Is this bloke for real?

Poll: A little over halfway through the season, where do you see us finishing?

That reaction from Stephan is probably the only encouraging thing I can think of from yesterday's performance.

Looking for aggression, intensity, and from one or two an understanding of the basic principles of play.

A couple of obvious questions around the starting 11 but no arguments with him there.

But everybody could see what was coming as soon as the team lineup was announced with Saito and Esquerdinha on the left. THAT is on 100% on Stephan.

There is very little chance that Stephan wants to pick Esquerdinha at left back- who has shown himself to be completely out of his depth on several occasions….and Saito at left wing, who plays like he has won a raffle. Yet cost the club millions.

If anyone thinks Stephan is 100% behind these two players continuing to get opportunity after opportunity - with no supporting evidence, and everything to the contrary, then it’s more than just a little bit naive. Very obvious Stephan has his arms tied behind his back and has marching orders from above.

If you take most of the parts of an engine out of a car - and the steering wheel, you can push the car down a hill and for a short while it will look like a car until it inevitably hits a wall.

That's what's happened to our team with all the injuries.

Are there any airbags left Bosh? Asking for a friend…

Didn't JD get them together after one of the goals at Southampton? Not that it helped .

I think he said lets keep it below 7 so that was a succesful huddle

I can't believe a coach of his standing would surrender team selection in a league game. Or force him to play 442 - doesn't make sense.

So it appears that QPR are heading for yet another finish in the lower half of the table. The coach is not the problem. A lack of creativity by the board to generate new revenue streams, poor recruitment when we do have (Eze) money to spend, and extremely poor fitness rank way higher than the coach. Just ask the previous incumbents.

The problem is injuries - for two seasons now we’ve had this. Deal with the problem and give the coach and the players the best opportunity to be the best they are.

Surely that’s not rocket science. Sort out the problem QPR board. This performance team has had two seasons now and managed to provide a slow start and a nigh on impossible finish to the season.

Time for a new performance team Lee and Christian. What is the data telling you?? Where are the best fitness coaches in this league or league 2. Time to do the homework and sort it out by the end of the season so the new team are ready for pre-season.

If you don’t, then expect more of the same next season.
And don’t expect to have your best assets fit to sell on to make your/the strategy work.

Some of your best assets for sale may not be available…

Those possessed by devils, try and keep them under control a bit, can't you ?

Finally, someone has said this about JD. He's the captain, the guy you turn to when things are going wrong, and he doesn't seem to want to lead.

How can the captain allow Varane to start having a pop at Esquadinha? I've never seen Dunne pull the team together post conceding and get them to refocus.

I'll not have a go at the youngsters, but some of these senior players should be charged with dereliction of duty. Dunne, Varane, Hayden, Saito, Smyth - none want to lead. It's just an arms out wide looking at everyone else to blame.

If the older players are not leading, then what are they actually contributing?

JD is no Captain,he’s got the gig because he’s one of the senior players and maybe they offered him the armband to keep him at the club but he’s definitely no Captain.

was saito starting on the left, I think he was meant to be a no 10 position with us playing a back 3.

According to Sinton and the limited QPR+ view we didn't go to a back 3 until the 2nd half with Smyth and Vale the wingback.

I don't agree on JD not being a good captain. I think he has stood up well, raised his game accordingly and showed good composure. I think the players who made the mistakes will probably either be putting their hands up or being reminded of their mistakes without JD intervening.

I hope Stephan will be here next season. He's done ok, the season has played out like this:
- first few games - adopts the 'game model' - it fails.
- he changes it after Cov - then we have 18 games up to xmas and we're doing ok. He's putting his stamp on even if some of his team selection and speed of substitution haven't been great at times
- since Jan the injuries have ripped the creative heart out of the team and we're over-reliant on youngsters and weaker players

Clive's point about - at this point in the season the richer, better resourced clubs start climbing the league - rings true - just look at the benches Southampton and SheffU have and look at ours.

As players you can work as hard as you like - and I think they do - but most of the time your going to get unpicked by teams like that.

In the WLS interview I noticed three things
- he look deflated - partly I expect he's looking at Boro and Brum and wondering how we'll get anything our of those games.
- asked about injuries - he said 'I'm not involved' - that said to me he's not happy about the state of his players
- about Sam Field - he said 'we allowed him to go' - so that was a joint decision. So that tells me he's properly involved in decision making, and taking responsibility.
Overall - I think he's trying to be honest as well.

So, I expect Boro and Brum to be a 'disapointment', probably Leics too. But - I hope by Portsmouth we'll have some players back - and he'll have some options and we'll have some joy.
I also take heart from that, apart from Ipswich the last nine games are all winable.
