Simple and incontrovertible fact: don't ask someone to do something if you're not prepared to do it yourself! So, as agitator in chief of Monkey and Space, I'll get off my whinge box and do this one. Only done one before and I can only offer hope that I can't be as worse as I was then and W7R was midweek. Shirley? That said, 1-1 my prediction. C'mon Rs, 'kin 'ave it!!!

Hope he is learning as he constantly says he is...because next season ain't going to be any easier. Personally I don't think we will even finish 16th this season. It's a good job we have enough points to keep us up... don't we ?đ€ |
I'm looking at Millwall away. If he's still in situ by then, that could be the one. Can see us getting a proper thumping.

The pigeon was very relaxed in his role and never threatened by our non press !!!

He'll acquit himself better in that defensive midfield role than "super" J Varane.
| Pony Up: Dunne's a Pro, Blades for show Fred on 18:26 - Feb 28 with 1091 views | HammersmithR | We saw the team before the game and every single one of our group said Sheff Utd would score from coming down our left flank. Itâs not rocket science. The Brazilian bloke cannot defend in a month of Sundays. We literally play one system and never find an alternative. Saito has been beyond poor this season. Not sure how Walsh started today after 4 mistakes on Tuesday. Varane was rubbish again. Morgan is just a passenger at this level. Donât start me on Bennie. Adamson came on and I think he didnât touch the ball once. Hayden has regressed this season. Kone just looks exhausted. Kolli has another game where I donât know what he did when he came on. We have built such an unbalanced side. We keep getting for weeks that certain players would be back. Chair was another supposed to be back today. Missing in action again. Cook gets rested at Hull. Doesnât even make the squad at Southampton. Poku has been such a poor addition. Basically injured since the first game of the season. We sign a striker in January who we could have got for free in the summer. We pay 500k for him and heâs vanished. Our players are so delicate. We have no pace going forward. Our football is beyond negative. Relentlessly passing it backwards when we get into decent positions. Watching our players unable to pass to a teammate. Not closing down players. Looking so unfit. Get this season over and I hope the board get rid of Nourry, Belk, cycling Ben and Stephan. Had enough of them. | | | |

| Pony Up: Dunne's a Pro, Blades for show Fred on 18:17 - Feb 28 by W12Mikey | I was in ER too. Donât really agree that Saito was to blame. The entire defence seemed unsure where to position themselves to deal with the threat down the left. JCS not blameless in my view. But actually I donât really blame the players. Esquerdinha has a handful of Championship appearances and the management put him up against Chong who has about 100 plus 33 in the Prem for Luton. In front of him we put Saito, who is a skilful attacking left sided player who in recent games has spent a lot of time trying to battle for the ball in central midfield, a role for which he is obviously not cut out, because we persist in trying to play with only 2 central midfielders. What did we think was going to happen? The underlying problem is that, whether because of lack of money or because the project means developing young players, we are woefully short of seasoned pros with Champ experience who have the nous and physical grit to negate the better players that wealthier clubs than ours will inevitably have. |
Sound assessment of the situation we find ourselves in. Have to disagree about Saito though.I've followed him closely since he has been with us, probably because he is the type of person you really want to succeed, but he sadly is never going to flourish in a league as brutal as this one. Same goes for a few more of the fringe players.

Putting out a team containing only ten players would certainly give Julien a novel excuse if - well, when - we lost .

My view from S block is same as this analysis . Esquedina not good enough but not supported well either. Varane shockingly blaming the youngster for his own costly mistake for the second goal. Saito at Soton and today drifting into the middle instead of keeping wide where he was best. Smyth should have started in front of Esquedina as he is a better defender. The right side seemed a lot more solid with RE and Vale and JD. Without Madsen no one was collecting the ball and taking us forward . As our worst ball-player JD hoofing it forward was odd when Ronnie and JCS better on the ball. I thought JCS showed some classy touches but was covering or trying to cover the left side as well as centre. [Post edited 28 Feb 18:44]

Yes. When I saw the team sheet I thought JCS will be covering for Esquerdinha, Dunne for JCS and Edwards for Dunne because Esquerdinha is a liability. Also Vale lost the goal scorer for the first goal. Terrible mistake from Varane for the second, and agree he was outrageous blaming Esquerdinha for his own cock up. Ronnie looked like class and deserved an assist for that lovely first time cross in. We looked much better for a bit of pace when Mbengue and Smyth came on. Very disappointed with Kolli when he came on. He and Bennie didnât work hard enough and I donât think Kolli influences games enough. Kone worked so hard with and without the ball but think he shouldâve done better with that free header in the middle of their goal. Saito was less of a liability than in recent matches but heâs still desperately lacking confidence and isnât taking people on like he was last season. Hayden was okay when he came on but shouldâve done better from the free header he had near the end. Vale looked okay in the second half but didnât really create enough in the first half. Liked how much Morgan showed for the ball and he did that lovely flick up in their penalty area which I think was the Kone chance. Overall itâs important that we didnât capitulate after going two down. But we have to do better when we get chances. Our younger players have to do better with not losing the players theyâre marking. It happens too often.

And it did not work, we ended up very very deep and literally 5 mins before they scored Wilder called Chong over and pushed both their wide men up so they were almost 4-2-4 and they targeted overloading on their right our left. After the 2nd went in Stephen reverted to 4-4-2 tbh I dont really know what more we could have done differently, we are so bare bones. Walsh, Esquerdinha, Morgan, Bennie are probably L2 / L1 level at the moment. Saito and Varane are woefully out of form. There is no creativity, no pace its all on the treatment table. We all knew we were going to get beat and most were predicting 3 or more. Finally I still dont understand why the goal was given offside I dont think I've ever seen that before, either at Rangers or on TV at another game

Agree with all of that except â Very disappointed with Kolli when he came on. He and Bennie didnât work hard enough and I donât think Kolli influences games enough.â Neither played very well but working hard is ALL they did do. Numerous times Kolli was back battling for the ball towards the left back area . Saito completely awol. Kolli also made run after run after run to try and get in behind and not once did we see it or attempt it . But more to the point , one of the guys on one of the midweek podcasts mentioned that no matter who plays that second striker role, be it Kolli, Bennie , Kone , Vale, looks a bit lost and unsure of their role . They play in a bit of no manâs land disconnected to almost all of the action. JS has to get a grip of this . Burrell is not available. Adapt! Change the system. Put another player in midfield . Do something different . The injury situation is unprecedented. Its a disgrace actually. ButâŠhe didnât HAVE to start 3 teenagers today . Mbengue, Smyth and Cook all on the bench. (another game where Cook is a sub but only gets up to warm up once with no intention of playing âŠor really warming up. Whatâs all that about?)

Vale was in front of Edwards first half in the usual 4-4-2. It changed in the second half as Vale went left back. But still looked a 4-4-2 to me with saito in front of him.
