Wasn't it originally stated that Dembele was likely to return in November.
Anyhow it doesnt matter - would flog him off in January window - he is useless and gets easily disillusioned - and is never going to be all that. Would sell Saito also and for me hopeful Poku would get fit and play well.

Hard to disagree given disappointing seasons for Saito, Dembele (and arguably even Poku in the few games he managed to play).
The question is whether a club would buy them for anything like we paid at this stage?
I retain at least some hope that Saito can turn it round. His attitude looks good but he does need to beef up and re-discover his confidence from somewhere (easier said than done I appreciate).
Agree about Dembele - he looks almost permanently unhappy and despite impressing in last year’s pre-season he has now had a significant number of league games without shinning in more than brief flashes. | | | |

Couple of points I would add here...
1 - "palmed off" is very much like "could do with a loan". Might be true, but you do have to find a willing taker. If we don't want them any more because they're injured, sht, unhappy, out of form, why would anybody else? And more pertinently, why would anybody else who's willing to match the transfer fee and wage we paid?
2 - Dembele might be injured for another 3/6/9/12 months, who knows? But his wage won't change, and nor will the fee we paid to get him here in the first place, so you can't very easily just layer another expensive purchase on top of him. As I said earlier we've spent some significant money in transfer fees and wages on some of these - Saito and Dembele in particular. You've got to get them fit and firing, not just give up on them because he looks a bit sad or his knee has exploded into a thousand pieces. Same with Poku.

You are correct the average ACL recovery time for a top athlete is 10 months to a year with a few exceptions of course .
But this injury is so devestating sadly a lot of players tear it again or never fully reach their pre injury potential plus the mental strain is always there
Dembele takes a lot of self inflicted punishment ,is small and weak and uses dribling and cutting moves in order to excel on the field all which put serious pressure on repaired knees.
I really fear for his career but hopefully he gets back better than ever |  | | |

I'm assuming that everyone who wasn't named by the club as being offered new contracts is being retained (still in contract so can't get rid of them!). How long the players are still in contract for is anyone's guess.
