I have to admit I am a bit of a John Swift fan. He always seems to have a bit of the Bannon's about him. He's only 30 as well. Mbengue played RB loads of times for Reading according to the fakes fans nearby and tbh thought that was his least dangerous position or should I say best. Looking at our CB options he has to be 1st choice RB next season. He has pace, such an asset, someone needs to work on his crossing but I think for an1st season in the championship the boy has done good. His back story explains a lot about his character |
I agree. Mbengue has been good at right back: a step up on playing Dunne there I think. I see no reason to move him back to the centre when we have Dunne, Edwards and JCS there plus a few backup youngsters.

Yeah, I (unusually) agree with you here, Ned. I think Mbengue is a good right back at this level. He is a much better RB than he is a CB. He has done a great job on two of the leagues best wingers, which proves he’s up to the level. We won’t find someone better for our budget, IMO. I think we do need to sign a back up. Dunne is captain and starting centre half, so it shouldn’t be him, and Adamson does not look up to it, and Morgan is not a RB. Mbengue will be suspended a fair bit. Personally, I’d sign an experienced pro - a better, right footed Morgan Fox, if you will - to be the cover here and just a general utility back. At that age, should be fairly affordable.
I like RND, but I’m not sure we can afford his wages (or is worth them). Esquerdinha, I have huge misgivings about. Positionally, I think he’s non-league level and is a defensive liability whenever he plays. I think he might end up with a career as a winger at a level or two below. So we will likely need to sign a starting left back in the summer and hope Larkeche has recovered to be the back up. |  | | |

Couldn't agree more, with what you've written, Northern.
It was a strange kind of game, first half especially. Even at 3-0, I was edgy about some of our play, even more so when the ghost of Reading past, pulled one back for pompey.
Thought Walsh made three good saves, that hadn't he done, would have put a completely different complection on the game.
But, to hell with all that, I enjoyed seeing us stick six past them, I enjoyed the celebrations at the end of the game, and down the pub after, and I'm just basking in the memory of it now.

If it's not, and he wants to play football, then assuming Sheef Utd want to offload, he'll take the best offer he can get from a club for whom he thinks he'll be first choice, and that'll be the market rate. And while I think he's done a decent job, I'm not convinced clubs with a decent shout of promotion will be looking at him. |  |

Didn’t think his contract was up at Utd. He’s been out for two years or something, and this loan was, as far as I understood it, their way of getting him up to speed. Totally strange game, but very enjoyable for Rangers. I hope we can do a deal and sign RND, think of all the left back loan signings he has been pretty solid. Thought Kolli demonstrated what type of striker he is on Saturday, one he is looking for that first time shot (good in my book) and he is looking to beat that last defender and lash the ball in. Thought it was his best game in a Rangers shirt. Agree on Smyth better end product now and we look better with him in the side. Central midfield a worry as we give a lot away there, got lucky with mistakes just outside our 18 yard box and Walsh doing some decent saves as well. I know we are flogging young Richard Kone but again thought he had an excellent game and doesn't he just come alive in those last 10 mins or so of a game. Seen that a few times this season against Charlton, Hull and on Saturday to name a few. Still a bit concerned about why we have not seen our new Coventry signing, thought it was announced he was likely to make the subs bench on Saturday. |  | | |
