Don’t mind Toney or Madueke as options off the bench. Madueke is wildly inconsistent but offers something different in a world of wingers playing safe inside passes.
Henderson feels like Tuchel making some sort of point. Take him as a coach if he’s that important to have around.
The omission I find strangest is Gibbs-White especially when he’s leaving Palmer/Foden out (rightly). He’s been brilliant recently. As much as we love Eze he’s not had a great season.

I don't agree with a few of these selections but this is pretty much the squad he has been picking for a year. Like of Gibbs White, Maguire, Trent etc have not been in the squad very often whilst the likes of Spence, Burn, Madueke and Henderson have been in every time. | | | |

I feel sorry for all those talented young midfielders England have now like Scott and Wharton who would probably learn more going to a tournament than England have to gain by having Jordan 'Great Experience' Henderson, 36 this summer, on for the last ten minutes, chugging around in 70% humidity trying to close out a draw with Ghana, only for Antoine Semenyo to run off his shoulder, Mr Experience professionally fouls him, red card, penalty, England's early exit confirmed...
But I do agree, let's just see how it all pans out. Not worth writing obits before the tournament.

An OK squad, fairly underwhelming in truth and I cannot see past the Quarter Finals.
I will be happy to be proven wrong, but I really dont rate Tuchel anyway. As for Palmer having a poor season, I think its the squad and manager merry go round that has influenced his season. As for Foden, he has never really done it in an England shirt and is a club player at best.

I think this is it. Big day of squad release, there's never going to be 100% agreement, and so media outlets and online personalities are going to ragebait and instrumentalise outrage in order to gain attention. Its typical on X.

I think we have to trust his judgement. I think Foden is a great player but he's never convinced in an England shirt. Palmer is also a great player, but he's not been on it this season. Eze is better than both of them. Madueke has blistering pace.
Maguire is perhaps the only one that surprises me because he offers more at set pieces than Stones.
This guy has a good record at tournament football so let's see if he has got this right. He may well have done so. |  |

Those players are just going for a week whilst the Arsenal and Palace players are away

With the number of games and heat there’ll probably be a need to change it in midfield in particular more than usual.
You’re right that there’s no combination of players that won’t raise eyebrows and it’s a bi-annual tradition to either demand more experience even if those players are out of form or demand players in form go over previous failures. But still, Henderson. Loads of defenders because some of them aren’t properly fit. Arguably not enough in terms of game-changers. It is an odd mix he’s gone for.
Presumably O’Reilly is nailed on to play left-back and rightly so but you’d think a more conventional LB such as Hall would be an option rather than shoehorning Spence/Burn in there. | | | |
