Maybe Lampty was more nervous than rusty, he didn’t seem to want the ball at all towards the end.
Cirkin was completely the opposite but as you say, both firing plus MadBen and Kemper back, it’s a luxury position for us to have. Adamson’s improvement and utility is another bonus.
Adding Edwards to midfield options because JCS is fit, yet another one. Both played well yesterday, Edwards in particular.
Shame we could not finish one of the chances. Watching the highlights back, normally one of those goes in, even if it’s a deflection or keeper error.
Acid test will be our three game week with midwinter, long distance travel…oop north. |  |

I was at the Fiorentina game and very impressed with his distribution. Forget what happened c Millwall, as is often said… there’s no hiding place for goalies and rarely any opportunity for mistakes to get cleaned up by others as happens with outfield players. |  | | |

Spot on.......Edwards did play well (not sure that he was our best player against a pretty average Bolton) however the keeper & Dunn, in particular, kept hitting long balls, yes they worked well frequently but lets get Madsen picking the ball up short and building the move.

I think we've gotten away for a couple of games now with playing two players conspicuously out of position in Adamson and Edwards.
Edwards obviously a far better player and can probably play there in midfield for longer than Adamson will get away with it at left back, but we're one serious examination from blowing both up. We've not played an efficient midfield yet, nor a rigorous right side attack. They're coming though. If I was Mowbray I'd be looking at both - particularly Saito in front of Adamson - and making appropriate plans.
Can't do much about Kemper getting injured and Adamson having to fill in, but starting the season with your star CB playing CM because your CM candidates are not fit enough is poor, again.
Excited by where this squad could be in October when all are fit, perhaps with the addition of one more player with physicality and height. Wary of square pegs in round holes this early. | | | |

Agree.
Everyone going a bit OTT about Edwards. He's was OK, but he's not been seriously tested and get the feeling Boro will exploit his lack of pace and mobility in there.
If we get a really good CM we can challenge for automatic promotion. | |

I've long felt that Edwards would be a better DM than CB. IMHO he lacks the physicality to become a top class CB. His other defensive qualities coupled with good control, dribbling and passing marks him out as a DM who can slot into CB when required. He would need time to learn the role but so far he has acquitted himself well.
That all being said, with JCS being linked with a move away, and Madsen and Kamara to come in, we may see Ronnie back at CB sooner rather than later. |  | | |

Extended highlights show Ronnie and Harvey interplay chemistry in midfield. I would be tempted to keep those two playing 6 and 8 (and have Madsen and Kamara in reserve)
I don't recall Varane ever playing as well in Midfield as Ronnie did on Saturday, and as a 6 he must be behind in the pecking order.
I don't buy the argument that Ronnie is not fast enough to be a defensive midfielder. He really looked like he was enjoying himself out there. [Post edited 26 Aug 23:28]
