I think maybe Thom Yorke's pretentiousness is what makes me dislike them... plus i find hus vocal styling annoying.

Black Uhuru - great mix of stonking dub and bass, earthy vocals and jingly beats in the 80's - synthetic, poppy, dross in the 2000's
But quite a few reggae bands seem to go that way - Bob was the same and Aswad also, to a degree. They get tamed.

You're not alone, I can't stand The Beatles either. Although to be more accurate, it's really everything up to Rubber Soul plus all the novelty stuff. They were the first band I got into as a pre-teen, so I'm very familiar with all the albums and quite a lot of the solo stuff. Then I discovered Kraftwerk and punk happened and I never went back. So now I regard The Beatles as kids' music.

Anyway, there are thousands of candidates for most overrated and several have been covered here, but to put the Beatles in that category is just plain ignorant. Sure, I get it, you don't like some of McCartney's more saccharin ditties or their early outings, but he did also pen Paperback Writer, Blackbird and Eleanor Rigby.....I could go on, but I know I'm wasting my time.
Most underrated: I often think it's Joni Mitchell.... certainly when compared to her peers like Dylan....

Someone with a straight face once told me that Mozart was the Robbie Williams of classical music.
I like The Beatles but I have to admit that they were over hyped sometimes. There was a time that you knew nothing about popular music unless Sgt Pepper was your favourite album. As the years passed so many people admitted that they actually preferred Rubber Soul or Revolver.
The Beatles influence over popular music will never be surpassed, see Oasis, and like it or not they will be talked about forever not only for their records but songwriting and recording techniques. There was actually a rule book published by EMI that everyone had to adhere to when recording music for release on EMI labels. Beatles engineer Geoff Emerick was the first to go against the rule book and he very nearly lost his job.
I rarely listen these days.

I was going to add Foo Fighters earlier. Tired, shouty, tuneless, interminably dull drivel. Wouldn't have lasted a year had it not been for the Nirvana connection.
I'm surprised at all the Elton John critiscism. Some of his songs like All Quiet On The Western Front and Don't Let The Sun Go Down are lovely. He uses a simple but effective technique called pedal point which adds plangency to some songs. I have a video of him where his band is augmented with choir and orchestra. It really is good. As for him “not being able to play piano”, that's just not so. I actually saw him when he was Reg Dwight playing in Alexis Korner's band.

overrated team - The Scum - bought success with dirty Oligarch money & special mention to World Cup winners Wet Spam; basking in the glory of 4 players from the mid 60s for 60 years now.
underrated team - Palace & Brighton (they'll love being thrown together) for punching above weight consistently, but more so Brighton for extracting hundreds of millions off the scum over the years
As for The Beatles, never a fan but considering their relatively short career together compared to others, the output and impact on music is incredible........ still don't nor ever will own any though
