why do we get so many? is it basic unfitness? poor training? last season the pitch didn't help but seems ok this time. why do we sign so many will dodgy fitness records? and are our medicals doing their job? chair was out for near all of last season and out already . if we get a fit squad we could have a real go at a top 8.

I also heard that Ben Williams is responsible for the current climate crisis, the country's deficit and why the political right in the UK are so bloody angry all the time..
There is some proper nonsense on this site
Some of these injuries are hang overs from last season and he still hasn’t got them right despite having a full summer and pre season now marking his own homework with respect to who he deems fit to play . This deeper squad is just serving to mask his performance imo . No wonder he won’t be there on Wednesday …

I'm not privvy to the details, I guess none of us are, but something has to change. It's getting ridiculous now. At this rate, we wont have a starting 11 come october.
Technology advances, unfortunately humans do not.

I didn't know this until I went searching but there are lists of the number of injured players by club. Unless I'm misreading what I found, there are 8 other clubs in the Championship with the same number (or more) of players unavailable selection as we have, some, like Millwall and Burnley have lists that look like Great War memorials. I know it's not great and we should be doing better, but we're not alone in this situation. I'm not sure - because I don't know enough - how much the club is to blame for this, but if we should be sacking people then so should a lot of other clubs!

Cheers for that. It's what I was wondering about up-thread.
It's clearly an endemic problem that needs to be addressed at the league level. Right now it favours clubs that can afford to stockpile players. Which shouldn't be the key factor separating success from failure.

Be good to know what situation is with Dunne and Lamptey. But I’m hoping that come end of international break we should have Kemper back, so injured players would be Chair and Dembele. And likes of Cirkin, Kamara and Madsen should be good for full 90 minutes.

The club did regular SM posts with injury updates last season: they should do those again.

Well, isn't that the thing. We can usually find someone else who's worse off. But when it keeps happening at one club, and it's different clubs who are worse off each time we check who else is around us for injuries, but we're always up there, then that suggests to me that there's a problem at our club.
And that's before we talk about the length of the injuries and not just the number. The impact on the team and points available. And how that isn't acknowledged, but instead spurious statistics about availability that seem to include a range of players well adrift of our first choice team and those just outside of it.
If every time this happens we keep pointing to other teams it's not going to change. At some point it needs to be acknowledged that there's a problem, because without that it's not going to get solved.

many replies , as we add smyth to the list. yes it is great we are top 6 , good support and many positives. as for too many games, well in the 70s/80s teams had squads of 16 maybe a few more but not the big squads of now ,or so players then dipped into reserves we now rotate often, as for qpr a cup run is a rare thing so less games, we used to do QFs a lot. and pitches were so poor back then, mud baths , uneven , they'd play in snow and ice , on pitches covered in sand ( anfield was dire once, sand patches all over) , but maybe it is a vast improvement in physios, no longer a fat bloke with a cold water bucket and magic sponge , a tweek could be a week out rather than months.

Up to a point. Why give other clubs information they wouldn't otherwise know about our immediate availability. By all means inform fans if players are going to be out for some time, or, definite missing from next game.

Weird in my book. We saw Jimmy, Chair, Kone etc go down injured. How about communication so we know if there’s a chance of seeing our “favourite players” on PNE
Cherish and enjoy life.... this ain't no dress rehearsal

It’s been said before but the thing that concerns me is the number of players who come back from a spell out injured and then get injured again. This has happened to Chair several times now, also happened to Poku last season. And I’m sure there are other examples of this that I’ve forgotten about.
To me this suggests the players are not being rehabbed properly.
If anyone in here is going to Wednesday’s forum, any chance of asking a question specifically about these recurring injuries?
A number of posts on this thread saying 'all Championship teams are struggling with injuries, we're no worse than others'...
Nerd alert warning... But...
Here's a chart that shows squad distribution of minutes across the Championship. Each line is a club. QPR is highlighted. I was interested to see where we sit relative to other teams objectively. If you have a settled and fit first XI, you'll be high on the left of the red line and low on the right of the red line.
Headlines here for me are:
- We're just about average for the league from 1-7. - We then dip badly in the 7-8 range in fact our 8th most played player has played the least number of minutes in the league vs other clubs. - Our 13th to 18th are playing a lot more minutes than average, only Swansea's are playing more as a huge outlier.
Obviously these numbers don't categorically prove that we have more injuries than other teams. What it does prove though is we're using more players more often than most other teams in the league. That might be due to a rotational choice / strategy or because we have more injuries than other teams... But either way we're relying on the squad depth more than almost anyone else.
If it feels to you like we're chopping and changing team selections a lot - irrespective of why that it is - I think this chart proves that relative to the rest of the league, we are.
