QPR and injuries 15:48 - Sep 9 with 28638 viewsthemodfather

why do we get so many? is it basic unfitness? poor training? last season the pitch didn't help but seems ok this time.
why do we sign so many will dodgy fitness records? and are our medicals doing their job?
chair was out for near all of last season and out already . if we get a fit squad we could have a real go at a top 8.

I thought they made a good point on Sky today that with the new rules in place ball has been in play 20% more than in previous seasons coupled with this crazy fixture congestion, most teams are suffering with higher than normal injuries this year. I appreciate all the caveats that it happens every year to us and we sign crocks etc. Jimmy's was a contact injury not sure if he fell badly or got a dead leg. Lampteys to be expected tbh

Are there league stats for team injuries? I know ours seem bad, but are they any worse than other teams in this division?

I read somewhere that on average clubs in the championship have 10-20% of their squad out injured at any point in the season. Which would suggest we have more injuries than most. However can’t verify that stat so I might be totally wrong

We’ve lost four players, four of our best players, in the first halves of the last two games.
We’re six games into the season.
Stop hiding behind percentages and statistics.

Unfortunately due to lack of messaging and the last 2 seasons, most, even me will kick the club for this. But Dunne, Kemper, Dembele….they were genuinely from contact. But then you have to add in Saito, Kone, Poku (?), Kolli….where we have no information. If they were more open about these 4, I’d be a bit more forgiving. Obviously Chair and Lamptey are non-contact muscle injuries again.

QPR and injuries on 08:06 - Sep 10 with 2423 viewsGaryBannister86

Lamptey is a free pass for the club, for me, whatever happens. Obviously a shot to nothing (presuming not huge wages). You don't get mutual release out of 1 year into a 4 year contract unless there is something seriously wrong.

As for the other injuries, it's beyond a joke. I don't pretend to understand medical science or exactly what the medical team do, but surely it's got to the place where there has to be a complete change. I struggle to think how anyone new could do any worse; even the old bloke who used to run on with a bucket and sponge and ill-fitting tracksuit would have better stats at this rate.

Or Dave Butler, remember him?

You can be sure they will be rolling out numbers of other clubs and it's nowhere near as bad as you think

Had a look back this morning on the sky footage. Lamptey seemed to be pointing at lower leg (not hamstring). Not sure if that makes it better or worse!

Combination of a number of factors I’d suggest but deeply frustrating. Looking into other clubs and their recent team news, it’s seems many have similar (if not worse) injury issues, Charlton for example had 9 players out for our match yesterday.

We probably have to take more of a risk with signings, Lamptey for example, than clubs with a larger budget who are more likely to be able to buy not only a good player but one with a better injury record.

Would be very interested to get the clubs view on this during the Fans Forum next week though.

well after last night we CANNOT lose 2 players a game, no squad in world soccer can handle that.
it has been over many seasons and we sign so many with iffy records, few work out.
is it the modern game is faster, players more bulked up/muscular? stronger defenders? ( but contact is less these days no vinnie jones and tommy smith, chopper harris these days)
too many games, well QPR used to play 42 league games and go deep into cups , now the league is 46 and we rarely do cup runs so it likely balances out.
we face a long hard winter , long trek north etc we need a fit squad if we want to push top 8 ( get to 50pts first then see imo) and /or stay away from the drop zone.

Fixture scheduling does nothing to alleviate the problem.

Why are we are playing five matches in 15 days?

Why couldn't last night's match be switched to next Wednesday and give time on the training pitch in between the three game weeks?

Broader context? Thats just an easy way out. Easy excuses for a bunch of people that drown you in statistics to drown out the noise.

Keeping people upright is where we can get an edge in this division. We have failed at this miserable for how long now? It's the single biggest issue holding the club back and it's continuing to happen.

There is one common denominator here......

I’m not interested in a big pile on against Williams, Nourry or whoever. We’ve made a lot of progress on the pitch this season. That’s without question. We’re 4th in the league. The start has been decent and we’ve probably deserved a few more points. BUT the injuries are a huge distraction from this progress. I just want them to be more open about what is going on but more importantly an honest assessment of what happened to the players and when they might return. Be OPEN with us about it? Why? Because we care about this football club. It matters a lot…too much maybe. Instead of talking about progress of on pitch this season, the injuries are becoming the issue. And that’s almost more because we’re told nothing and assume the worst. Poku, Saito, Kolli, Chair, Kone…..what’s going on? When they know status of Dunne and Lamptey….tell us. Updates on Dembele and Kemper would be nice. 3 of those 4 were from football incidents and the other we knew the risk. No one is going to go mental about it….just be open with us.

We shouldn't have loaned out our U21 1st team squad players - Morgan, Bennie, Tylon Smith, Pearman, Sanyalou. We're going to be putting kids in like Scarlett, Akendilini and Sutton who are below the aforementioned in the pecking order.

It’s because for some reason there is a mammoth four game international break coming now so they’ve had to stick at extra midweek round in.

its not a big pile on for ben williams , hes supposed to be in charge with the medical/firness side of the club last two season have been utter car crashes and hes still here , we had a couple od weeks of hang on we look fitter. have we sorted the issue , and it seems we havent , your spot on the club treating us like idiots with what the injury is etc etc sticks in the throat big time for everyone , esp when they tout the line a week later of we dont know what the injury is , at least tell us which limbs affected for a start maybe , then go from there .

we are in the thirs seaso of being under ben williams being in charge of fitness thats including his zoom appts from dubai which should been enough for anyone to sent down the road add in him workign part time while working for a basketball club who funnily enough also suffered a terrble worst in history run of muscle injuries then a pattern emerges that something is seriously wrong so this isnt a pile on this is the facts that something is badly going wrong within the club and the team whos have started well , could challenge this season it the injuries once again dont screw us up

Really feel for Stephan. He's rotating like mad to keep injuries at bay and it's made fck all difference.
Dunne and Kemper were 'football' injuries, as in they happened as part of a coming together. But we've got Chair, Lampety, Kone, Poku and Saito who have all been unable to make it through 6 games due to tweaks, tears and twinges.
Meanwhile our best laid plans to slowly build up Madsen, Kamara, Cirkin and Burrell are now in the bin because there's nobody else.

The S&C at the club is absolutely awful

Chair and Kone are the only ones I would be concerned about in terms of any prevention that could maybe have occured.

That said I was surprised to see Dunne come back out after HT, I hope that didn't aggravate things. I wonder if he played it down to try and continue.

Chair seems to have been quite injured the last few seasons, I wonder if his body is becoming more prone to injuries now? Either way, worrying how he went down. He was so fit for many years.

Kone similar to Chair, I guess he tried to keep going after he felt something go, maybe a mistake and again hopefully it's not made things worse.

People missing 1-2 games I think is just going to happen, it's the long-term injuries that will really hurt us.

Poll: Will we stay up?

Yes, but that doesn't explain why the Charlton match couldn't have been next Tuesday or Wednesday. Thereby not having back to back three game weeks.

The schedule is fcking nuts this time.

Five games in 15 days, then a midweek round left open, then a Saturday, then three weeks without a game at all.

No games Good Friday, no games Easter Monday.

It's like they used that dart throwing monkey Stoke get to identify their signings.
