Very balanced. He feels and sounds like the QPR manager now whereas last season he gave off slight vibes of "is this guy just passing through?". He speaks with real authority now.

I assumed Vale was injured as once the side is submitted you can’t change it.

First point I did wonder. They're beside each other on the spreadsheet, that's the only explanation.
Second point, JCS is made of glass and must be handled with care - and they'd already announced that the medical team is smashing it so hard Jimmy is already fit. Possible combination of him pushing, it not being a risky injury, but him not being fully fit anyway.
Scarlett had probably our 2 most dangerous moments of that first half I thought. Was the right call to replace him at half time.

I think it was a fair and honest assessment of the game. He didn’t dodge his responsibility and part in it, and acknowledged what he might have done differently - no one was accounting for letting in a goal in the first 20s. But it’s about how you react to the inevitable setbacks. I really liked what he had to say, and at no point did I think he was hiding. I think we have a really good un here. The players seem to back him. When he first came, I wasn’t sure what to make of him. A full season in now and whilst we’re not there yet, I like what he is doing, and how he is going about it.
I said it after the West Brom game; I really like how he speaks in these post match conferences. He’s bang on and not afraid to call a spade a spade. He seems to have standards and is trying to lift them across the squad. He definitely seems more confident and secure in his role now. I think he made mistakes today with that starting line up and that is probably what ultimately cost us the 3 points, but I think he knows that. And he obviously did a great job at HT to inspire the second half performance.

I think he knew he fked up with his first half selection, went full effort in the dressing room at half time, timed his subs right and ultimately was buzzing on how well it worked out. And he should be. I’ve never seen 10 men dominate 11 men like that, ever. Preston were no doubt crap and on the back foot but you still have to make it count
The Preston of old 2-0 up against ten after half an hour? Against a past Rangers team that would have been a walk in the park

1. I think he thought Kamara could do Madsen’s job and Madsen could do Vale’s, so Varane came in as a defensive cover. Didn’t work
2. JCS playing time is being managed, if Dunne and Edward are fit, JCS would be cover
3. Well it’s Preston ain’t it, thinking of course to unleash a young keen player for his first start, who knows down to 10 men before the hour. Again, Saito and Smyth playing time are also managed but with the sending off the plan backfired. Young Scarlett has to be taken off after a terrible first half by the whole team. That’s sensible.

I don't think he replaced Vale's postion with Madsen, he moved Kamara forward of both Madsen and Varane. It didn't work, Kamara had his worst half of football since he joined us, and Varane was subbed off when Stefan brought Adamson on and changed our shape to the midfield diamond. Madsen was very good throughout and Kamara much better 2nd half.

This tin foil hat theory about who picks the team really needs to stop. JS picks the team. He quite literally said in post match this (prep, team selection etc) is on him.

Hear what you’re saying Gazza, but the underlying point here is that we have a manager who is building the fundamental mentality of a team that will fight tooth and nail in every game regardless of any individual mistake or poor decision.
What we are seeing and hearing from him are the personal qualities that allowed him to achieve what he did during his time in France.
He is into his second season with us and there has been a huge shift in the mentality/culture of the entire club and players.
I think the lack of quality strikers will be our undoing this season, but this manager is the real deal and we must stick with him and back him to the hilt.
That response to yesterdays game was honest, accurate and fills me with hope.
