I assume Kemper will start with Lloyd and Chair on the bench.

so if they are fit does that mean the lesser spotted obkiwu leaves the bench for kolli or vica versa ?

Why, what have they done to upset him?

Possibly Chair, Kemper and Lloyd back for Southampton. Adds to strength in depth. Who, if any, will start?

I would be holding Chair back for a bit, maybe off the bench against Lincoln but no rush for him.

Better news on the injury front:

Along with Kember the key player there for me is JCS. Southampton away we need Ronnie in midfield (particularly with Madders out). Just don’t think we can carry Vale for this one, we will need more steel in the centre.

Maybe we could move KemPer into lcb and play Cirkin at lb.

KemPer moving position would allow Ronnie to get stuck into their midfield.

I think that KemPer and Jimmy would be a decent pairing.

We need to get the P back into Kem er 😁.

Failing that, get Steve Kember out of retirement.

I can see him ending uip there long term to be honest , reads the game well , decent in the air as well

midfield tommorow has to be
Edwards
Kamara
varanne at least for the first half

Think Edwards will be centre back. I fear, based on nothing but a hunch that Glass-Salter has one of these injuries where we won't see him this side of Christmas...

And so it transpired. You were spot on about needing Ronnie in midfield. Even in the first half they tore through us and, much as JS got the tactics right against Swansea, he got it wrong yesterday.
If JCS was not fit enough for 90 minutes, he should have come on for second half ( or Kemper moved to CB).

To finish four games already this season with ten men because of injuries is unforgivable. And the Lloyd injury means either he wasn't 100% to start with, or our preparation of substitutes with warming up etc. is not right.

It also makes a mockery of our substitutions strategy, assuming we have one. And you can only imagine how Stephan feels about all this.

All in all we're either incredibly unlucky, or it's a total shambles.

"Once is an accident, twice is a coincidence, three times is a pattern."

Four times a proof that something is clearly wrong!

You put on half injured, fully taped or hopefully recovered players as your last substitutes. Doing it once may be bad luck. Doing it four times, and having it end badly every time, suggests it might be more than just bad luck.

Perhaps I've missed this in many many pages of this thread - but whats the thinking about spending additional real money on our training/medical support?

Sure we could gamble with another set of players with dubious medical pedigree, or we could spend the money on a set of highly experienced and trained medical professionals/equipment to fix what we have - my guess is that this would have a better return over a few years?

We have an entire army of conditioning people these days.

And we have expensive new training facilities.

So don’t think it’s lack of resource.

The spotlight is on Ben Williams.

His career record is mixed, his football experience limited and his manner/ behaviour controversial.

And our fitness record under him is appalling.

So maybe he should go.

My only word of caution is that for all the criticism, no one has really articulated anything specific that he is doing to apparently cause / fail to prevent all these injuries.

If he carries the can, few tears will be shed. But if the club isn’t conducting an INDEPENDENT deep dive into what is causing our on-going fitness issues I fear the same problems will hamper us long after he is gone.

Remember an article from last season bayern munich do daily blood testing for various things to do with fitness and if the variables arent right the player sits out that training session totally ,

These days the evidence on whether warming up has much of an impact on sustaining injury is very much up for debate. So, unlikely you can blame that. So your former point (not 100% right) is more likely.

Bare bones.

if you watch us warm up esp at half time its a few runs , watch the game shuffle left, shuffle right watch the game , dosnt seem to be a structure to it no real stretching done , wasnt it fulham have used to have the exercise bikes on the touchloine for players to use to wamr up not so long ago ?

Arsenal seem to think that warm-up routines might be contributing to injuries:

https://www.espn.co.uk/footbal

I can't think of a specific reason for it but there does seem to have been an increase in the number of players pulling out of games because of injuries picked up in warm-up routines.

But having said that, Madsen and Mbengue were both on the bench for the Derby game and both came away from that with lengthy and mysterious injuries. Particularly mysterious in Madsen's case when he didn't even get on the pitch.

It suggests to me that either the club is not assessing injuries correctly or we're naming players in the squad when we know they are carrying injuries and probably shouldn't be playing.

They must have thought Alfie was fit because Kolli was sitting on the bench too, so why would you put a half-fit player on when you're 3-1 down with 15 minutes left?

West Ham - Lamptey is made of glass so not much you can do IMO.

Derby - I suppose they could have put JCS or Morrison on instead of Mbengue and moved the defence around. The match was over anyway. Again, one assumes he was considered to be fully fit despite the heavy strapping on his knee.

Birmingham - Kone scores a 15-minute hat trick in the next game so who bloody knows.
