Who could be our unexpected star this season. 17:40 - Jul 22 with 5222 viewsnumptydumpty

I got three names to me that could do way better than expected.

One I think actually is very unlikely to be here, sure he will go out on loan.

That is Faysal Bettache.
From all I have seen of this guy, he seems a very tidy player, strong considering his size, and very energetic and great at recycling possession. I personally got high hopes he will certainly be one to keep an eye out for.

Albert Adomah
I think the fact this guy is a childhood fan of our club and the excitement in his voice joining our club could push his performances especially at home to a higher level. Always seems to be threatening coming on as sub and has had a successful career. Not our usual signing of recent times but the experience and the enthusiasm of Albert playing in front of the loft, we could all imagine if it was ourselves it would push us to perform way better than in front of a wet and windy midweek crowd at Barnsley.

George Thomas
Another guy that totally went under the radar. But looks strong, found space in attacking areas and linked up well with others, albeit in generally very short cameos.
I was thinking possibly at times last season he may not make it here but the things he did when called upon, suggested to me he could step up given opportunities.

Who do others think could be an unexpected big performer this season.

There's definitely a few possibilities.

Well it seems that way right now !!!!!

Here's hoping...🙃🙃🙃

Willock. Not so unexpected but I think he's an incredibly special talent. Different type of player to Eze but could be as impactful this season.

Never knowingly right.

This, not sure if it's unexpected at this stage or not but I expect him to be in the running for player of the year come May.

Will be curious to see how Thomas does. He seems like maybe the odd man out, but Warburton seemed to suggest he will be important.

Going left field here, and though possibly not a star this year, but having an impact will be Sinclair Armstrong
He seems to have all the attributes and must be something of a talent as he is on a few bigger clubs radar
Be interesting to see if he does make some kind of a break through this season

I know very little. I’ve had a feeling about this boy and I hope he comes good.

Did I ever mention that I was in Minder?

Dr. Imtiaz Ahmed.

However you look at it, we’ve acquired a lot of chaps for whom the words ‘injury problems in the past’ apply to. Getting them fit and keeping them healthy and playing is going to be a challenge and if Immers and the white coats can do that, then they may well be the unsung heroes.

I think Willock will be right on the money this season.

I get the impression that he's a better athlete than he is a footballer at this stage. Based on 30 mins of watching him in a pre season friendly. Seemed to be constantly looking for through balls and balls over the top for him to chase. He might need to be patient for those in this team.

Good shout though looks a proper explosive player.

The fact that we're all naming forward players whereas all last years top 3 players play at the back is interesting.

Would love to see a bit of Sinclair Armstrong, but I think we're much more likely to see Charlie Kelman have an impact. Could easily do 5-10 off the bench (optimistically), especially now Mac Bonne is off on loan.

Yep, and I've a feeling Jimmy Dunne will quickly become a fan's favourite. Seems to be the kind of whole hearted player we love to see. I'd imagine he'll play a fair number of games too.

It wouldn't surprise me if Armstrong makes the squad a third of the way into the season and, if so, runs riot.

I don't think it will be long until he is a regular starter

Out of the three you mentioned I agree with George Thomas. I thought he looked good in the games I saw him in.

This has to be Willock's season based on what I saw in the previous.

Todd Kane. Ends up staying, gets his head down, makes up with everyone and plays 40 odd games really well

Lyndon Dykes?

I think he will hit the ground running this season and be a real nuisance for defenders whilst bagging 10-12 goals or a few more if he takes penalties, but reckon that will be Charlie's job this season.

I was going to say Bettache and Thomas.

Bit more of a punt, but hoping Dom Ball can do a 'Lee Wallace' now that Field is out until the winter.

A bit fanciful perhaps but maybe Ball could be Holloway to Johansen's Wilkins?

Chris Willock for me.
Took a while to settle but is getting stronger and he is quick. Needs to add more goals but if he does that he'll be on the radar of a few PL teams.
