Best ever loan signing 13:20 - Jan 26 with 6880 viewsTonto

Hopefully Mr Sanderson will get the opportunity to be added to this list one day - but who are our stand outs? I might (with Clive's permission) turn this into a poll once we have the nominations:

I have great memories of Mark Kennedy back in 98. was gutted he signed permanently for Wimbledon.

Jojo last year has probably claimed nomination too.

thoughts?

Why stop now, just when I'm hating it

Kyle walker was up there.

Kennedy is the one everyone remembers isn't it! A great month.

Lee Cook has to be up there, along with Lee Camp, both had enormous impacts.

Danny Shittu was initially a loan

Matt Jackson was a loan we should've signed.

Adel!

Bare bones.

Mark Kennedy in the late 90's was quality

Paul Furlong was a nothing sort of loanee (highlight, goal off his arse), who was a great signing!

Jerome Thomas brought a splash of colour into some dull times.

Not in the same class as Kyle Walker, but I thought Stephen Kelly was very good for us on our way to the play off final in Cardiff.

I will chuck in the name of Lee Cook as well.

Not the best, but Jerome Thomas was fun for a bit

While Walker is arguably the best, some others deserve honourable mentions:

Lee Camp. Would we have been promoted without him?

Ben Watson. I felt he did a great job for us, pulling the strings in midfield and getting the team to play football.

We need Robith to come up with an algorithm to resolve this. League position beforehand, league position afterwards, minutes played, assists, all that stuff.

Kyle Walker might well win it depending what he puts into his statistical stew and that would be fair enough.

The Lee Cook loan has a lot of sentimentality about it though, and his later financial gesture. Lee Camp too, even the Kevin McLeod one. There's something to be said for some of the loans we got in at times when we were battling against the odds.

Most disappointing loan could be Dani Parejo.

Should we exclude the ones that became permanent...Cook, Shittu, Furlong, StefJo, Adel?

Maybe include them but only during their loan periods (?)

(I think Loan Period Stef might well beat Permanent Stef so far but that's a whole different thread)

Has to be Adel Taarabt, joined on loan in 2009 before making his move permanent

Wayne Routledge. Gave our Championship title run an extra dimension.

Apparently he only played five games for us but I thought Iñigo Idiakez was a bit special.

Very strange that one, didn't we sign him on loan and then he didn't play for ages? Once 'arry finally selected him it turned out he was rather good?

For me it has to be Walker, was a joy to behold that season. You just knew he'd make it in the big leagues, and it was great to have him with us even for that relatively short period of time.

Not the best but Mikkel Beck and his spectacular curtains brought a ray of sunshine to a truly rubbish team.

Old school but was Paul Walsh a loan in the 80s? Another nice set of locks and a good player
