Yep I'll be there on Monday, with my bobble hat, looking hot as hell (well if you're a septuagenarian with astigmatism anyway).

And also at Reading: how quickly we forget, like childbirth, how awful that journey home really is. Let's hope Stef is back to lead the charge like he did last season.

It's a trial sometimes supporting Rs. But even these runs don't last forever. Remember the depression we had with Warbs before Charlie and Stef arrived. That turned round and we had some fantastic times.

Looking at Blackpool's last 14 matches before Critchley took over, they'd lost 8 out of 14, drawn 3 and won only three. The next season they were promoted. It wasn't all smooth sailing, they started terribly, but he turned it round and got through the play offs after finishing in third place.

I'm not clapping happily quite yet but it's not world ending either. And as you say, Clive, many of these players we know can turn it on. We just need to see them doing it more consistently and all at the same time. Happy New Year to one and all.

I like to think that I’m normally quite measured and calm, if not too emotionally involved, in my responses to all things QPR but I lost it a bit in here towards Les and Chris Ramsey after the Luton debacle. Reading this doesn’t change my mind much as how can manager get, what manager wants, if you have an effective DoF?

“What manager wants, manager gets” is definitely a problem. With a total salary bill not much more than the £8M you quote for us, Luton have progressed from the Conference past us in the league. As with Brentford, this has been done by really good recruitment.

This is though a difficult balance, if NC comes along and says I know of a great player in Liverpool’s reserves and the DOF and recruitment team put their foot down and say you’re not having him, how will the relationship between them be affected? Also, one of the reasons NC was presumably brought in WAS his knowledge of available players.

A difficult conundrum.
