I know plate tectonics is an ongoing process but I had no idea Saudi Arabia had become part of Europe overnight. Perhaps Iceland is now in the Caribbean. I'll investigate.

So UEFA, the Union of European Football Associations, may be willing to allow Saudi clubs into the Champions League thus strengthening the Saudi league at the expense of European leagues, makes sense.
Once Qatar have hoovered up most of Europe and sub divided it with the Saudis... they won't need UEFA Al-Ittihad Liverpool Al-Duhail Arsenal Al-Nassr Newcastle and Al-Arabi Manchester City will move over to the prestigious Asia Cup and leave the Champions league to Wrexham and Gillingham...

Money talks.
I wonder if they'll allow the Israeli teams to play in Saudi if they get drawn....🙄
Great question.
They've allowed Israel into Europe for footballing reasons, while all other Middle-Eastern teams are in Asia. This would seem to go against the logic of that separation.

Its so obviously what the Saudis want - If you look at Golf, all they PIF wanted was a seat at the PGA Table - so they set up LIV - disrupted the market a little and less than a year later they have a stake in world wide game. The Saudi League is another vehicle to disrupt the market and gain a quicker seat at the global sport table

Great post here this is a real threat to the game IMO. Money is just the carrot they want to get on to the big stage . The PGA Tour went to war and lost almost immediatly then threw in the towel and joined up I say close that door right now but FIFA are so embarrasing corrupt its probably going to happen

It should be noted that Saudi and Israel are on the brink of a massive trade deal under the guise of a peace / recognition deal. Morocco already done it.
Anti Israeli sentiment will not be a problem, nor any moral considerations of any kind it seems.

I work adjacent to this topic and imo Saudi is far more of a threat to top level football on this continent than the attempted European Super League (the corpse of which is still twitching, just about). Not only that but UEFA are too complacent about the threat.
One person who isn't is the Napoli chairman, who allegedly inserted a clause doubling Victor Osimhen's buy out clause for Saudi clubs in his latest contract
Shit but local

We all watched on years ago having typically missed out on the money coming into the premier league waiting for it to go “pop” but was never going to happen . The money being thrown around now is only going to increase and now the likes of Newcastle are pulling up to the top table , we will start seeing 50 / 60 million quid as the norm for average premier league players . Not sure this is sustainable for the big 6 , 7 , 8 or whatever the clique is these days just to finish 5th and 6th so the champions league will turn into the super dooper league they all wanted a couple of years ago … can see top 6 teams going into the who has the most money and biggest stars “champions” league in a couple of years . They can all fcuk off there as far as I’m concerned and have a closed shop from the rest of us aswell as these clubs are a million miles from us already so won’t make any difference

I reckon he is, just that he knew where all the money is coming from!

A Saudi team is already in the Champions League.
Howay the lads!

Led by a bloke I’ve never warmed to, and as he’s often known in Sunderland; Beheadie Howe. Genuinely sooner see Chelsea win something than those Saudi arseholes.
Fulham FC: It's the taking part that counts

Except it wasn't for "footballing reasons", it was entirely political, in that other Arabic/Muslim teams were refusing to play against Israel, especially after 1974, such that Israel eventually had no alternative but to apply to UEFA. (They had even played in Oceania for a bit!)
(Btw, this is not a comment either way on the propriety of Israel's membership of UEFA, though I have to say, a trip to Tel Aviv a few years back remains one of my favourite international aways of all time)
P.S. I would heartily recommend people read up on Israel's qualification campaign for the 1958 World Cup - I once had to cite it to quieten a couple of Taffs who were getting a bit mouthy about their lovely boyos' World Cup exploits: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/
