Thanks for the report Clive, and I also interpret what Jimmy says, that the players are now struggling with what JS is asking them to do.
Whether that is because of injuries and being played out of position, or JS not being concise and the players are not accepting it, is open for debate. I feel it is the former, as when we had players available we turned in some decent performances. This I think might save JS
The reputated interest in Varane, must have all but evaporated, but you just know that he will leave us eventually on a free... and go somewhere and become a world beater....

The formation we set up in was all wrong from the start at it was obvious the players weren't happy with it confirmed by Jimmy in his post match interview.
I keep saying it but we are walking into a nightmare. A bit like Birmingham themselves who dropped into relegation on the last day of the season a couple of years ago. There is a big stench of unrest behind the scenes that will pull us into the dog fight and these players do not have the balls for a dog fight. | | | |

It's like being there all over again, reading that report, Clive.
There is something drastically wrong with the Rangers, that goes far beyond the coach, and the players, although they aren't helping, in my opinion.
The club desperately needs to change it's philosophy, otherwise it's a long slow decline towards, who knows, non-league football?
We cannot keep going into every season with no intention of competing in either cup competition, and just being satisfied with bumming around whatever league we happen to be in, on the off chance we might win promotion through the play-offs.
Our club will die, might take years, but she's on a downward curve that looks like it's a set way with us.
That's how it's beginning to look like, now. To me, anyway. |  | | |

Re Dunne's comments I think there is a challenge to how the team plays without Madsen. Understandable as we don't have anyone else who can play that role. But it's clear that on current form Varane and Saito can't start; you'd think Morgan and Kolli did enough to earn a start tomorrow, can only hope the manager (sorry, "head coach") sees that too.
But for all that a professional team can still do the basics of running, tackling, heading. Competing. That is a bare minimum. And it was totally absent in the first half on Wednesday night.

A very good opening post. Imo, It has come to a situation when Nourry needs to see if there are a few free agents on the market that we can bring in. Lukas Andersen could be one of them, because we need to get in a creative player asap or we lose the rest of the matches. [Post edited 13 Mar 13:52]

I'd agree with that though they'd need to be fit which Lukas may not be. But also not sure if we're allowed to register another player or not. Don't think we can if we have already named a 25 man squad without any "youth" player, under 23 or whatever the age limit is. | | | |

A report that brings into focus that we are the antithesis of the oft-referred to archetypal 'well-drilled' Championship side - a team lacking in guile and flair but built around effective coaching of players with a core of mid level Championship stalwarts. Such teams will never get promoted, but you'll know you've been in a game with them and you'll have to both work hard and play well to beat them.
I'm sure Stephan knows this - his response was the 0-0 games. But I'm stumped we can't figure out how to master the basics of being a rudimentary Championship team. |  |

Another great write-up, though. We were so, so poor, dim too. Losing 1-0 with a free kick in the opposition's half? Why not pass it backwards to your defenders, no need to try to get it into an area where you might, by some miracle, have a chance of actually scoring a goal  .

Thanks Clive, great report as always. I watched the nightmare on the red button...God knows how awful it must have been to be there. I was angry at home, you must have been livid with the first half no-show!
I almost never want the manager sacked. Plus you are correct that the manager with us isn't the problem. The CEO did better with his recruitment last summer but still left us with big weaknesses at full back and more importantly in central midfield, which the last few games have highlighted horribly. Plus how can the manager manage if the physios and fitness folk don't report to him. That is a crazy situation.
However it is obvious that there is something seriously wrong with the first team group now. What was Jimmy Dunne trying to say in that post match interview - surely you can't be confused with what the manager is asking you to do after 30+ games in charge?
It's a cliche to say that the players aren't playing for him now...but that is what it looks like. The manager needs to be tactical and astute but he also needs to be an inspirational leader....which he clearly isn't. I can't stand listening to his 'word salad' interviews, I suspect that the players are the same.
Sorry, but on this occasion he needs replacing as soon as possible.
I thought we were completely safe this season, but by the time we've lost to both Leicester and Portsmouth (which with this aptitude we will) we will be right back in the thick of it. |  | | |
